Will you use your Tie Bombers after wave 7?

I own 4 Tie Bombers. I love the model. Ever did since I first saw them in the movies back then.

I'd love to use all 4 with ordnance in 100 point games without having the feeling that its already a lost game right at the start - because of my experience with them and ordnance.

I had some success with them while I used 4 empty Scimitars + 3 Academies - but that's not how bombers should be about. They should be weapon platforms.

So right now somehow empty Tie Bombers are a greater threat then Bombers laden with stuff - because the efficiency sinks the more ordnance you equip. Isn't that crazy?

Now there is a 'fix' card on the horizon, I ask YOU a single question:

Imagine you had the Tie Bombers and Extra Ammunition for each.

Will you use your squad of 4 Tie Bombers competitively?

I already use them.

3x Scimitar with Proximity Mine

Experimenting with Extra Munitions, new bomb types, and the TIE Punisher in variations of this build will be fun.

I proxied extra munitions last week with 3 Scimitars and Jonus and won a casual game againt Brobots. Although fun I don't think I would take it to a tournament (though I never played Imps at tournament)

If the bombers had an EPT slot then I'd use them more (Take Deadeye to get rid of the bigest issue, needing a target lock on a ship to fire ordinance at it)

No they effing suck. And every time I use them, I get the MUNITIONS FAILURE CRIT. Or the Blinded Pilot crit when I want to shoot a missile. Or can't perform actions. Or all hard turns are red.

Ugh.

I love the ship though. It looks so cool. But its such a trap for me.

All my bombs miss cuz I suck. And bombs suck. And Barrel Rolling to dodge the obvious bomb sucks.

Uh...yes! Give three bombers cluster missiles with EM. Have Jonus lead them to provide the rerolls as well as cluster missiles for him. That's a ton of red dice rolled within two turns plus rerolls from the captains ability. I would add determination to Jonus and you still have several points to add what you see fit. Maybe torpedo's for everyone at two points a piece which magnifies your EM upgrades.

There is this weird idea of not being able to use 4 of the same ships invalidates it. Some ships are support ships. Some ships have a role that is not meant to deal with everything. Would you use 4 hawks for instance? A bomber should be used with an escort. Or, a bomber is "part" of a complete breakfast. In my world, a bomber always has a mainline fighter escort. In game you can do what you like of course, but don't think a ship is not good because you can't use it exclusively and be competitive at worlds.

The new ordnance should be a fun way to play, and I encourage you to try it as no amount of debate on this forum will give you any idea of how well you might do, or more importantly....how much you will enjoy flying it.

Upgrades are fluid, I like to mix that part up. The only reason I'd change is for more Tie Bombers.

I might go back to bombers at that point.

Defo, only have 2 and like to fly them in a 3-ship with Vader. I will be getting just 1 punisher and get that to lead my bomb squad. Cant wait to take those badboys in an epic game.

We've all got 100 points to spend. Bombers are cheap. Punishers are more expensive. When someone wants to spend less, they'll use Bombers; more, they'll use Punishers.

They'll still see play.

Yes.

I will definitely continue to use my Bombers. They are one of my favorite Imperial ships, and are pretty resilient targets for TIEs. They're great cheap bomb carriers, and I am excited to see more bombs coming in the next wave.

I'd roll Accuracy Corrector instead if it will fit. If I'm only rolling two dice, might as well make them count.

I will probably fly a squad centered around a bomber and an Interdictor once wave 7 hits

A Scimitar with a Homing Missile, Seismic, and Extra munitions isn't a bad option at 25 points. You potentially get two, 4 dice attacks with a TL, which the defender can't spend evade tokens on. Pretty decent even against Interceptors. The 2 bombs are just frosting on the cake. In fact 4 of these could do some work...

Swap Homings for Concussions and with Ion Pulse Missiles you are able to gang-bang pancakes.

But you could do this right now even without Extra Munitions.

28 points into a bomber and 72 points of TIE Fighters. If you go Bomber instead of punisher you can get more ordnance.
