Favorite Starwars Video Game?

By DanDoulogos, in X-Wing Off-Topic

For me, my favorite Star Wars video game was SW: Knights of the Old Republic.

To be sure, I liked both SWKOTOR and SWKOTOR II.

The whole Reven storyline was so cool - good guy? Bad guy? You decide.

Now to be sure, I like RPGs, and a good story based game. Some of my favorite games are not necessarily the most brilliant technologically - but have an engaging story to go along with game play (I am looking at the games like first Prince of Persia reboot (great story!) or Dragon Quest VIII - which had a great story, and such memorable and awesome characters).

Don't get me wrong - I like First Person Shooters, and loved BattleFront - especially the space combat - but nothing sits so sentimentally secure in my wistful memories as playing SWKOTOR for the first time.

Yes - I didn't care for having to start each game a wimp who didn't have a light saber for some reason - but I can over look that.

And yes, I've played SWTOR online, but frankly, and maxed out a few characters on either side of the force, but haven't played in over a year, and don't really feel any desire to return to it.

Force unleashed promised so much, but delivered so little. Played it. It was forgettable.

I did like open feel of Jedi Academy and the like, (I can jump really high!) - and the stories were good, but the games weren't big enough - not epic enough - for me.

Nope - for me it was Knights of the Old Republic - that's my favorite Star Wars Video game.

The correct answer is always tie fighter, then x-wing then Jedi knight two:darkforces three.

Any other answer is just an indication your too young to know better, and you should get off my lawn!

Republic Commando is amazing, and so is Empire at War, and the X-wing series. They are all really good!

Republic commando was the one good prequel game, shame it never got the sequel they set it up for.

TIE Fighter and Rogue Squadron III are fun, even though I suck at dogfighting video games.

X-wing: Alliance. There is no competition. Go play imperial assault DF fanboys :P

TIE Fighter for nostalgia, Knights of the Old Republic for awesomeness (and honestly, as much as I <3 Revan, I enjoyed The Sith Lords better... probably mostly because you get a lightsaber earlier, the robes actually look somewhat like robes, and lightsabers/Force users are less common).

A sequel to Republic Commando would have been awesome. But both it and Shadows of the Empire (and Battlefront II ) have not aged well.

Yoda Stories.

Wasn't three the one with the terrible on foot sections?

I was trying to ignore those... *sigh* Would it kill them to let me change the camera angle?!

But yeah, I mostly play the Rampage mode. Whoo! Wanton destruction!

Jedi Outcast, Republic Commando, Battlegrounds, Both KotORs

Yoda Stories.

I've never even heard of this game (I thought I had played them all!) what platform? Year? Now I suddenly feel incomplete.

It's a tablet lego game I think.

Star Wars (1983, Atari)

Rebellion has a special place in my heart.

It was a windowed puzzle game for the PC back in the '90s, sort of a spiritual successor to the Indiana Jones version. I think it was ported to the Game Boy at some point.

That's Yoda Chronicles I think.

Jedi Outcast, Republic Commando, Battlegrounds, Both KotORs

Though I would re-order them, add one, and subtract a couple:

X-wing

Dark Forces (I & II)

Shadows of the Empire

Galactic Battlegrounds

Jedi Outcast

Republic Commando

I dunno, apart from the dogfighting series which rule supreme I liked Republic Commando, Jedi knight: dark forces 2, even Force Unleashed. The turnbased strategy game, Rebellion I think it was, wasn't that good

X:Wing and Tie Fighter series
SWKOTOR I and II
Masters of Terris Kassi

Played a lot of Yoda Stories, DF and Battle Front back in the day.

Aside from Empire at War (which got a bit repetitive), I haven't played any SW video games for 15+ years.

If I were to jump in now, what would I get into?

I can't say that I'm much a one for 1st person shooters or anything that requires too much hand-eye-coordination.

Galactic Battlegrounds.

I remember back in the day playing with a co-worker on our network at the office. He would walk out of his office after a game just sweating from the stress of a good game. Those were really good and fun times.

Go to good old games pick up tie fighter and jedi knight 2, then every rogue squadron game.

Avoid rebel assault neither game was much good.

TIE Fighter, TIE Fighter and, oh yeah, TIE Fighter.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter with Balance of Power expansion.

So many good memories, first multi-player space sim I ever played.
