Rebel 300 point carrier theme

By Replicant253, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Got a game tonight against my friends imperials. First time for me using Rebel and want to get the most out of their squadrons so.

Assault Frigate Mark II B

-Dodona, Adar,

Nebulon B Escort Frigate

-Yavaris

Corvette B

Dutch Vander

Wedge

Xwings

2 x b wings

1 x a wings

Hyperspace assault

Precision strike

Dangerous territory

Assault frigate and neb cluster together surrounded by the squadrons in order to maximise adar and yavaris. Use of lots of squadron commands.

Corvette deploys out on a flank and joins in as a harasser later in the game.

Lacking firepower, if you cluster together with no extra firepower, you will get shot to pieces before your Squadrons gets to do enough.

I'll try to flesh out what GilDK said so it becomes hopefully usable.

So, the old attraction to squadrons rears its head again! They're really hard to use! Here's why:

Your plan is to "cluster together surrounded by squadrons". I think this can be one of your plans, but you'll need more than that, because moving a blob all together towards the enemy is exactly what plenty of commanders will want you to do. I think that simply stating the corvette will "join as a harasser later in the game" is a bit soft - it sounds like it will have about the same level of impact your sentence does. Perhaps the secret's in the scenarios...

I'm equally sure your plan is to put Yavaris and two squadrons into Hyperspace Assault, which is not something I'd like to be on the receiving end of, so my 300 point list would ignore that yellow scenario. The other two are more interesting, I suppose. If I've burned up points on squadrons, I probably don't feel too terrible picking Precision Strike, since I have a better chance of getting behind you (since I'm going first) than you have of getting behind me. Most would probably pick that scenario against you, which is probably when you would use your "cluster together surrounded by squadrons" technique and move towards the enemy with two ships. Hopefully the don't go for the CR90 who's use is to be determined.

With my all-ship list, I'd certainly pick to play against you in Dangerous Territory, because I always have a CR90 with Jaina's Light these days, and would be satisfied taking objectives and trying to destroy your one-ship-wolfpack CR90.

Hope that helps a bit!
