When my order went from processing to production, the Interdictor was the first model to go into production.
It is also the only of my orders to go from production back in to processing, which happened last week. I wondered if that was because the pieces did not print correctly. Perhaps the antenna issue.
I hope that when it went back to processing it was updated with the new design.
I hope so. My own case wasn't handled very well by Shapeways (it appears to be sorted now), but I hear the customer service of the US branch is way better than the European one.

For the basecoat, Citadel Celestra Gray, which with a light black ink wash over the top is a pretty good color match as is for the VSD. I used Dawnstone for the darker panels (again, darkened with an ink wash as appropriate), and Administratum Gray for some edge highlighting and lighter colored panels.
I don't know that there's a perfect, out of the bottle exact color match (didn't you have a thread asking about that?), but that's what I used, and with those three colors and Nuln Oil you should be able to get extremely close to what the VSDs look like out of the box.

Heh...some random blue paint I got with a brush kit at Hobby Lobby! I mixed it with a white. I'm not totally pleased with the look but I got the color pretty close to what you see on the VSD.

I received my order today. I've washed the models but I'm going to take some pics and post them before I do much else.
So far all I have done is wash in warm water and gently scrub with a tooth brush. I'm going to Home Depot after work to get sand paper.
These are wet after washing, so bear that in mind.

Ehhhh... Looks bumpy:(. For Shapeways I would always get the best possible finish... Otherwise it just obscures a lot of detail. Maybe it will look less so when painted?

I used the spray primer and it seems less bumpy now, which is good. I do agree that buying the most expensive things would be nice. Unfortunately for me, reality checks in and I must make the reasonable choice rather than the ideal one.

You can save yourself a whole lot of time and effort and just roll with FUD jjohnson. No matter how much you do to the lower detail materials, the grain will be there. Its expensive, but well worth it IMO.
I just received my (second, fixed) Interdictor, a Nebulon B2 and some shuttles, all in FUD... and I gotta say, totally worth it.
Utar's resin casts are also really excellent, can't wait to get them all painted up. Though I'm not yet sure how I'm going to mount them, as at least the corvettes (DP20, CR70 and Assassin) don't come with pegs.
Just use a 1/8 x 1/16 rare earth magnet.

Yes - certainly! I apologize for the delay. I'm following the instructions from this thread, but I'm a noob so pardon if they don't get the same result.
The following is after spray primer with army painter black. I felt so much better after seeing this.
This was after 4 probably over-watered down coats of celestra grey.
These two are after about 4 probably way too watered down coats of Nuln Oil. At this point I finished for the night. Tonight after work I will continue with the Dawnstone and Administratium Gray paneling and highlighting. I might have to save the 'ard coat and spray anti-shine varnish until Wednesday. I will keep you all posted. This is my first time painting. I'm enjoying it. The step by step is a great help.
BTW at that point the grainy look is practically gone. It looks great, as far as I'm concerned.
