How much of an impact has Armada had on your X-Wing playgroup?

Basically none. I'm the only one that has invested in it. The others like the game a lot but they also play Warhammer 40k so they don't want to get into a third war game.

We still mostly play X-wing but every once in a while we'll get in a game of Armada with my ships

None at all. People are invested in the game and the competitive community here. Armada is expensive and a huge time commitment for competitive play.

Basically the price is what keeps me from getting into it. There is a couple of Armada players at league night but most people I know are already vested in X-wing and it is too expensive to jump in another collectible hobby. There are a couple of players who don't like Armada mechanics as well.

about half the group has invested in armada

about all the group is capable of playing more than one game :P

we'll get the rest of them playing it too, soon. It's really too beautiful a game to ignore, like X-wing perfected

my group has an FFG night once a week. The last two weeks I had to beg to get in a game of x-wing. It is actually a split between armada and assault, but the guys I used to play with are definitely expanding into the new games. At this point I don't think it is a fad as I first thought.

X-wing is Super Star Destroyer expensive.

Armada is Death Star expensive.

What's Armada?

X-wing is Super Star Destroyer expensive.

Armada is Death Star expensive.

relative to what?

armada is outdated astromech expensive and x-wing is spare parts expensive compared to the eclipse that is 40k <_<

It and Imperial Assault have had a huge impact. When our X-Wing league wrapped up an Armada and Imperial Assault league started. When they finish the X-Wing league will start back up. I guess it's ultimately a good thing that the league organizers are alternating because there is a huge overlap in players between those three games but it sucks showing up on league night and seeing all of the tables covered in not X-Wing.

None. I hear flgs has sold a good clip of both games...but I have yet to actually see it. And no one in my group is willing to invest in it at this point in time. If I were to bet into another one it would ne imperial assault.

Imperial Assault, despite its Armada level buy in, is in the long run the cheapest of the three. Plus it's an amazing and pretty much complete game of both just as a standalone.

I think someone said they liked it, but I don't recall seeing anyone playing it and no one has left to play it instead.

There's been 1-3 games of armada going on during my xwing Saturdays lately. Which means 2-6 less xwing players available.

I've picked up the starter, but haven't played yet. I already regret it as I know I don't have the time/energy/money for another game and I'm still in love with Xwing.

It was 'free' because I traded in a bunch of old RP books at a local book store and bought Armada with 100% store credit, but now I wish I had that for Wave 7. But we'll see what happens once I get a taste of the gameplay.

Many of our community pilots are dipping into Armada and Assault, but the Xwing community still seems robust and we seem to be snowballing new members into the fold quite regularly.

You're also down the table space for 2-6 games of X-Wing.

Zero impact here.

No impact but that's only because no one has bought it yet. We havn't played XWing for 2 months though. 20mm Vietnam is our current thing. We play many games but interest in xwing fell off when S & V dropped as the whole group was meh for that faction. We will have a resurgence when the raider drops as the group has 2 on order between us but the era of us playing it every week for months has definitely gone.

None here.

I have fully invested in X wing, Armada and have Assault on the way (with all of wave 1 and 1). Just waiting on the raider I have preordered at MM and then Assualt will ship with it.

Anyways no one I know is playing Armada yet. Guess I will try to get it started here. I just finished my 6 foot oak plywood tabletop so I can do armada and epic x wing. Should be fun.

My group has started getting up earlier and turned 'X-wing Saturday' into 'Star Wars Saturday'. There's even a budding Age of Rebellion group forming and we go from 10 AM until usually around 6 PM or so

None at all.

My game group is mostly boardgames so its hard enough to get a game of X-fileswing

Mostly its talisman, descent, twilight imperium

But seeing as I own 90% of the games they play what I tell them too lol :-P

Now that wave one has FINALLY got here in NZ I can finally push for Armada, there was no point trying to get games in when all I had was the base game

Quite an impact at my FLGS actually. Imperial Assault "stole" a few players from time to time, but now Armada has really split the player base. It used to be called "Monday night X-Wing" and now it's "Monday night Star Wars" basically. Before, you could play 2-4 games of X-wing on a Monday, but now that the numbers have lowered considerably and that there is often an uneven number of players, 1-2 games are more likely. I haven't invested in Armada or played the game even. I'm resisting actually, as I've invested a lot in X-Wing. There might be a "thrill of the new" effect, but from what I've observed Armada does seem excellent. I just don't know if I can support two spaceship miniatures games. I have Imperial Assault, but it is very different than X-Wing (I didn't own or play Descent before) and IA's core set is more complete than Armada's (even though both, like all FFG games it seems now, don't include enough dice!).

It may be the cheapest for now but give FFG time....

Plus if you already have descent + almost all of it's expansions (like me) then buying into it is not all that cheap as you are effectively buying the same thing just re-skined.

I know I know, it has it's differences like the skirmish mode.

Lot of Armada at my store. Pretty sure it had zero impact on the X-Wing community. Then again, I do not play on the night they do, so I am not totally sure of the effect.
