my first customer service request!

By joewrightgm, in X-Wing

So I went to my local shop and bought a lambda because I'm a completionist.

Now, this store had had this shuttle since they moved stores about a year ago. Calling this dead stock for this store was being kind.

So I pull out the shuttle, and I'm going over the contents, and I'm missing a token sheet with the target locks, shield tokens, etc.

I also noted that the wings were pretty floppy. They don't lock into place at all, and lack any tension.

I filed a request for the tokens, but I did not for the shuttle model; should I file a request? Or is that just the nature of the shuttle?

You might as well submit the request for the shuttle. The wings should be able to be folded up or down and stay in those two positions at least.

I'd get a replacement and refund.

I ended up submitting the request. I kind of want this thread to be about a first-timer going throughout the process so ill update where I can.

I'm interested to hear what your experience is like. They've always been very nice to me... but I've never asked for a replacement miniature, let alone a large one.

I had a bad A-Wing where the paint of the model was chipped. I asked for a new one, had it a week and a half later. FFG is fantastic. In your report, you should attach your receipt or some kind of proof of purchase (most ships come with a small PoP square). I don't think they will give you too much of a problem. But of course, everything is a case-by-case basis.

Massive derpfender style hissy fit in 3...2...1...

This is different from the derpfender in that the shuttle came out of the box defective it wasn't destroyed by the owner.

I'd get a replacement and refund.

"replacement and refund" might be pushing it a little... ;)

Didn't people use to complain that the Lambda wings were too tight and didn't fold all the way down? :P

Yeah but the reason for whining would be equally nonsensical :)

They were, and they didn't. I haven't bought one since they first came out, so I don't know if that's been corrected.

I have. Simply stated it was broken. New one came, no questions asked. FFG is fantastic!

That's very good to hear. I've got a B-wing where the clear attachment tube on the back is broken and just constantly detaches thanks to the weight of the B-Wing itself, even with superglue. I might request a new one, if they're as reasonable as they sound.

Thanks!

I had an A wing with two of one side of engines - meaning that on one engine the large vertical fin was on the bottom side of the ship. Instead of a proof of purchase, I just attached a picture of the Awing. Within a couple weeks they sent me a new A-wing! And to boot it was a prototype paint job just like I had.

i just want to say every time i have used FFG customer service they have been more than awesome

Got word back from service, had to send an email and attached video of the ships wings being floppy. Filming with one hand is much more difficult than it looks.

I did actually put the proof of purchase number as well, this seemed to help.

No response on the token sheet (yet).

Well, 'it's in the mail' as they say; token sheet and a new shuttle. That's amazing, much props to fantasy flight!!

It's a sensible business strategy: one shuttle at manufacturing price is worth the sales they'll get from the customer loyalty they just engendered. Plus they care about what they're doing: they strike me as a company that's still in the "our goal is to make products" phase rather than "our goal is to make money" phase.

Good service or no, fantasy flight seems to have reputation for doing the right thing, which I OK by me!

Got my tokens Monday and I should have my shuttle end of week. Overall very pleased with their service and timeliness.

I didn't even know the wings on the shuttle folded...

Have you even star wars bro?

Obviously I knew the shuttle's wings folded. I just didn't know the miniature's wings folded. I didn't think any of the mini's had articulation.

it's not on every model but the falcon's sensor dish moves as does the turret on the CR-90 :)
