First squadron, where to go from here?

I just recently picked up the starter set as well as the TIE aces box. I put together a 100pt list using the models I had (2 interceptors and 2 TIE fighters) to play against the store owners Scum and Villainy. I only manage to win the game because I was very lucky in my evade rolls, he was out manoeuvering me due to my inexperience.

Anyways, this list I brought was this:

Carnor Jax: Shield Upgrade, Push the Limit

Kir Kanos: Shield Upgrade

Mauler Mithel: Hull Upgrade, Marksmanship

Dark Curse

That is pretty much the best start I could think of for 100pts, but I am wondering what you guys would suggest to pick up to expand my Imperial forces? The first thing that came to mind was to grab an Advanced TIE fighter to get my hands on Vader, but beyond that I am so new to the game I don't know what is good and what isn't.

My LGS does host regular tournaments and weekly gaming.

A personal note about me

I am not new to gaming. I have been playing Warhammer 40,000 and Fantasy for the past 16 years against some of the top players in North America. So the guys I am regularly facing bring a highly competitive aspect to the game.

I would suggest getting atleast one of all the small ships since the upgrade cards will help in the building of new squads. Or maybe get one of the large base ships for now and see what you can put together from there. Or you can jump on one of the squad builder sites and put a list together and see what ships you will need to pick up (for the ship or upgrade cards). Not knowing your play style makes it hard to suggest a certain ship you should get before another one.

If you are still not sure about what to get, if your group is fair size, see if one of the other guys might let you borrow a ship or two to see how they fly. I know most players pick up more then one copy of each ship so there is always a person or 2 with more then enough ships to help out.

I picked up a TIE Advanced today and ran the following list:

Darth Vader: Cluster Missiles

Carnor Jax: Push the Limit

Lt. Lorrir

Nightbeast

I played two games, the first was against Rebels where he had Dash with a Mangler Cannon and some upgrades, one of which allows him to fire a secondary as a primary (don't know the name); and Wes with R2D2 as well as some other upgrades. He was able to destroy Carnor and Nightbeast before I brought Dash down, and then Wes wasn't able to take on the two remaining.

Second games was against another Imperial player who had Soontir Fel w/ Push the Limit; Boba Fett w/ Push the Limit and Gunner; and am Obsidian Squadron Pilot. I brought everything to bear against Fett and scored 5 hits with Vader's Cluster Missiles before the two Interceptors made short work of him. Jax helped a lot in that situation as he had the Firespray within Range 1. Maybe two turns after that I was able to bring down Fel. Finally, I was able to get all four ships to aim at the Obsidian pilot, but some poor rolling on my part and some excellent rolling on his allowed him to survive that turn, but not the next one.

I am starting to get the feel for the game though and will probably look at getting another Interceptor next. Although, it also depends on what my LGS has in stock. I think they only other TIE they have right now is a Defender, which looks interesting to play.
