Really NEED Your Help for a Tourney this Weekend...

By cubby09, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am torn between the two lists.. WithOUT altering either list which do you like better? Both lists absolutely shred interceptors of any kind. I have also done well against named tie swarms and Prince Harming (Xizor and 4-5 Binyares).

My debate is this: List one has proven pretty good for me. I use Boba as the bait as he flies in close to use his ability. IGB flies in and mops up. I am 8-2-1 with this list. Usually Boba dies just before victory or has 1 hull. List Two has not been played yet but plays off of the atuoblaster auto hits with the accuracy corrector. The idea being IGD gives me added mobility options. In theory I pick a target to ion at range 3 or 2 (highly probable given IGB's ability and accuracy corrector). when ioned I then use IGD's ability to swing both IGs on a hard 3 flip and be at range 1 for four uncanceled hits. My conerns for this list is the midling PS 6 and I may not always be able to do a tandem flip because of obstacles. Thanks for your input!

I like list 2 better. It seems to have more synergy.

List one!

"Both lists absolutely shred interceptors of any kind."

I am doubtful that list two will manage to do anything at all against a Soontir. A decently flown Soontir will simply never be at range 1 for Autoblaster Cannon, and hitting him with the hits from Accuracy Corrector will be close to impossible, even with IG-88B's ability. Same goes for a named Phantom: punching through 4 green dice with only 2 hits will be rough...

True... You need HLCs or Manglers w/ FCS to land good hits on Interceptors. Still though, with IG-Bs Gunner effect they would have to roll decent evades each time. Your hope would be to roll 3 hits naturally to get in Ion through. If you do Ion an Interceptor, it would be a dead ship for sure.

Odds in my favor. With both IGs firing that's 12 dice with 2hits guaranteed each time. Odds are I will roll 3 hits

That's assuming they drive right into your arc and let you shoot them. I vote list one to prevent interceptors dodging you all game.

That's assuming Fel got stuck in both your arcs somehow.

Also, the odds of rolling 3 natural hits is 1/8. So you'll get 3 hits once every 8 shots.

If you have a focus token, you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting 3 hits.

Even when you do roll 3 hits, Fel might be at range 3 (Autothrusters), have Stealth Device and a F+F+E stack. He'll likely shrug it off.

Unless you block Fel or get him double stressed, the odds are likely in his favor.

I see your point but that just hasnt been my experience when running one IG with Boba. the added mobility with IGD's abilitlity should help with arc dodging as well. Again I have never run dual IGs so its just theory. Hence the post and call to people who HAVE run duals. I usually get a hit through on the seond shot. Also i want an effective list against all comers not just interceptors. dual IG's in the OP could walk a deci off the board or seriously control it. It seems to be able to exert a certain amount of control over BBBBZ as I can break up their formation at will (accuracy corrector on the ion vs one defense die). It can break up tie swarms and bug zappers (which i am actually fearing with this list). Again at this point its all theory crafting as I havent played it but it seems viable

Oh, I've seen dual IGs with Ion Cannons do well.

At the very least, I'd drop the Autoblaster Cannon. That'll free up 10 points you can spend on other upgrades.

Maybe Predator + Seismic Charges for each?

Predator will help you get 3 hits a lot more often. And with the way IGs fly, you often end up with people chasing you. The Seismic charges can be a good deterrent and create a no-fly zone for Interceptors and Phantoms.

Or you could go for VI + HLC/Flechette for some asymmetrical fun stuff!

VI helps tremendously against other IGs, and against PS7 super-Dash.

Flechette can really shut down any ship that relies on PTL. Stress+Ion in one round shuts down any small-base ship.

HLC can be crucial in getting damage through on a AGI 3 target.

I have a lot of experience flying dual IGs (3 store tournaments and a regional), altough I prefer B and C and with advanced sensor instead. If you have not flown a pair yet then I would advise against using them straight out in a tournament setting. Your first list has both pilots with a higher PS, which is something that most players are comfortable with. List 2 keeps them at PS 6, which is an entirely different ball game.

You can kill and destroy arc dodgers without any problem at PS 6, but it takes practice, knowledge of where to place asteroids and how to position your ships. Those are the types of lessons that you learn the hard way the first few times that you fly the pair.

So yeah, I vote list 1: you have experience with it, it's creative and you seem to have fun with it :)

Klutz- the whole point of the list is to ion then get 4-6 unblockable hits with the autoblaster.

Dots- i hear ya about experioence with the duals. Although i have not run dual IGs I have played for a few years now and am comfortable placing asteroids and navigating big bases. I am just not sure if two IGs is the way to go or not. Ive noticed that when Scum came out a lot of people were running duals but that has tapered off somewhat
