I think many of the comments on this touches on important point. No matter what an epic scenario is called it is important that it gives the players a good introdution to the dark ans warhammerish world. Question is can FFG pull that of?

Thinking back on it, I seem to remember that the Power behind the throne scenario, which was one of the best bits of the The Enemy Within campaign was set at a higher social level than even the Paths of the Damned was. The range of experience and social interaction was what made the Enemy Within campaign so good.

Would definitely prefer something new rather than Enemy redone. As Amrek and Mal Reynolds (kudos to the Browncoats) have said whatever campaign FFG do, it has to have the grim, dark feel of Warhammer, it has to stand out from the D&D campaign worlds

I think I'd like a new campaign to play through. I think the in-game world has moved on since those early days and I'd like to see the FFG guys given free rein to do something new and unexpected with the line. In this climate I can imagine them releasing parts of their campaign alongside supporting supplements. As a market, we're not then buying one scenario book, we're buying the scenario and the additional material allowing you to expand beyond that and tell your own stories. I'd go for that.

And while I'm here, I do remember those early scenarios and I loved them for all the handouts. And if FFG know one thing it's how to do game aids/props/pieces. So the more of those the better.

And yes, I did play it, and yes I did enjoy it. But it sits in my loft now, and I never even thought of using it for a 2e campaign. Need to move on. One of the reasons it was great is how it painted the world in the early episodes as that was the development of the Warhammer world to how we know it now - but it was all new then. Nostalgia's not what it used to be.

So, the rumors were unfounded, right?

Won't ever happen, because GW don't like the world it pictures. They want armies vs. armies, we want an enemy within...

Are the books available for download anywhere? I listened to the Enemy Within 2nd Ed live audio, and would love to get hold of the source material.

I'd love an anniversary release of TEW all updated to v3 with lots of FFG goodness After l not everyone was an oldie and why should the new blood miss out on a good thing. (and I regret selling my copies long ago)

That said I want a new campaign. Basicly I'd like the cake and to eat it. =D.

More like it's because the Enemy Within timeline/setting doesn't fit the current setting. Sure, it could be redone for 3e, but what with how much FFG already has on its plate for products over the next year it'll be 2012 at the earliest we'll even think of seeing this as an update. Knowing GW and rehashing old non-boardgame products (esp RPG) I'd bet the permission to do so is slim to none. Especially the fact that it winds up with an empire in flames and GW loves to keep its settings timeless (sure, revised depending on the dev team in their employ, but static otherwise).

I don't think that the published adventures for the 3rd so far are that far away from the feeling of 1st edition Warhammer. I really like them, and a lot of the NPCs, settings and themes remind me of the good old days. (Just imagine Gathering Storm or Winds of Change illustrated in the same way that Power behind the Throne was: For me it's the perfect fit.)

I'm sure that FFG will come up with a campaign of their own, and considering the quality and the atmosphere of the adverntures so far, I think that they will succeed in delivering us a real fine treat.

But I don't see why it has to be either a reissue of Tew or a new FFG-campaign. Let's have both. Since TEW is of purely historical interest, why not go for a 3rd version of it? There are a lot of good reasons for it:

as an hommage

for all the people who don't have it (and would have to pay offensive prizes at ebay or elsewhere for the old books)

because the 3rd edition of WFRP and TEW are a perfect fit. Remember for example the NPS-cards in Power behind the thone? Why not have them in color like the NPS-cards in Edge of Night? Doing River-Trade with cards and tokens, using the progress tracker in Bögenhafen, yippieh.

.. because the campaign is really, really good, and I think that new players have a right to experience what a really really good campaign feels like. (I don't agree whith all the veterans who say: "Well, I played it once and I have it, so why bother. The young ones should be content with the cheap stuff")

it would be a slap in the face for all those who believe that Warhammer 3rd is too much D&D or worse.

But, honestly, I don't think, that they will ever do it.

I though Enemy Within was an excellent campaign. Sits there with Masks of Nyarlathotep as the best examples of a written campaign for it's chosen game. However, even if they could, should FFG re-do it? And I don't think so. I'm sure they have the talent within them to produce something with a similar feel to TEW without it being a re-hash.

While Gathering Storm and Edge of Night have been received well, I'd definitely prefer a campaign with more 'meat', spans a larger area, and has wider implications if the players screw up. After all, they're the heroes, right? That said, definitely good initial efforts.

I don't believe your 'army vs army' argument is valid. Name one 'army vs army' adventure module for WFRP [any version]. I can't.

I also recently read the emperor had a dragon in 1st edition (or was it second?) as well.
