Source Material for Expansions/What do you want in Expansions?

By FalsifiedHero, in X-Wing

Alpha class XG-1 Star Wing all the way. Basically make it the imperial equivalent of the B-Wing, jobs a good'un!

Or just break the game completely and release a Kyp Durron piloted Sun Crusher

Special ability: Can not be destroyed, missile ordinance: whatever the hell it's called that he blew up an entire star with

The expansion I want next: the last one - let the game breath for a while

My wish list-

Imperial Raider- want it ...NOW!!!

second Imperial Epic ship- Gozanti, please

2 Epic ships for S&V- don't care which ones

YT-2000- for Rebs or S&V

Assault Gunboat

Episode VII X-wing

remaining bounty hunters from ESB- but not the stupid Mist Hunter I frequently see, it is crappy design and waaayyy too small to transport 90+ Rebel prisoners/refugees

I'd really love to see the XG-1 Star Wing (Imperial), Tie Avenger (Imperial) and R 41 Star Chaser (Rebel/Scum), Cloakshape fighter (Scum) and maybe the T Wing (Scum) added to the game. The issue I am finding with more expansions is that the Rebels seem to be largely tapped out, I can easily think of 4 more Imperial small base ships and there's plenty for scum but other than the kinda debatable R 41 the only of ship I can think of is the H Wing and honestly it doesn't seem to be at all different from the K Wing in terms or role. Plus it's really really goofy looking

ASSAULT GUNBOAT

No.

Seriously. People complained about how many wings the K-wing has.

Same number as the X-wing. Fewer than the ARC-170.

I want the punishing one with dengar

And the mist hunter with 4-Lom and zuckus

I want a campaign box with xwing rogue one repaint and tie repaint with avenger title for tie Ln and rogue one title for xwings

Tie Ln title doubles the range 1 bonus for tie Ln.

In other words ties get 4 red at range 1.

Rogue squad title doubles the range 3 bonus

In other words xwings get 4 green die at range 3

This allows swarms to continue doing what they do best and xwings hit and run and do what they best by surviving the closing in gaps. Fixing both ships.

TIE Avenger.

Gunship.

Missile Boat.

The frakking Raider.

S&V YT-1300/2400/whatever (not for game balance reasons, but because Dash and Han aren't the only ones running such freighters and they were pretty much S&V through-and-through, except for Han, who went rebel once he got sufficiently dragged into it).

S&V R-41.

S&V T-Wing.

Epic S&V Gozanti q-ship.

Luxury 3000 yacht/Lady Luck (presumably for rebels to give them a FireSpray-like large base ship).

Stealth X-Wing.

All the ships from Episode VII. And Rogue One. And Episode VIII. And Episode IX. And because they will pretty much inevitably stretch the last movie of the new trilogy into a two-parter, let's say Episode X, too.

Clone Wars-era ships like the V-Wing, Eta-2 Actis, and ARC-170 as S&V and/or Rebel and/or Imperial ships (maybe all three). Maybe have some Battletech TRO:1944-type The Old Republic-era reproductions/replicas (fighters, freighters, transports, and light corvettes).

As much as I'd like to see the Assault Gunboat or Missile Boat, I don't think we ever will. I get the impression they're trying to keep the aesthetic as close to "X-wings vs TIE Fighters" as possible, which is why we see them drawing from some weird sources like Galaxies instead of more obvious stuff. My biggest want is probably the Chiss Clawcraft, but it's a hard sell to make it an Imperial ship lore-wise.

I'd definitely like to see a Prequel/Clone Wars Wave, I'd set it up like this:

Rebels: N-1 Starfighter, text explains Naboo supported the Rebellon in its early days.

Empire: V-wing, text explains some were still in active service as the converted to TIE Fighters.

Scum: Droid Starfighter, some of the new canon shows pirates using converted ones, as well as the "Droid Grota."

All three would be weak, low-cost ships meant exclusively for swarms or using up "extra points" to make them show their age. Lots of room for unique abilities (a hive mind ability to boot Droid swarms, Clone pilots with elite training for V-wings, etc.)

No sure where to go with the big ship, though. Would like to see either Cad Bane or General Grievous' ship, but both were starfighter size. Though a single, points-heavy starfighter sized ship with abilities akin to a big one might be interesting. The Droid Control module (the detachable sphere of the Trade Federation ships) might be interesting, especially if it's built to give bonuses to swarms, but is probably too out of scale. Neimodian Shuttle might work for Scum, as their version of the Lambda.

As much as I'd like to see a Vong faction (or even an "Alien Invader" faction made up of Vong, Ssi-Ruuk, Yvethans, etc.) it just plain won't happen. The new canon's a shaky place now as far as "what happened" goes, but the Vong war DEFINITELY didn't happen. I honestly just think they'll add "First Order" and "Resistance" as new factions once the new movie comes out to build off the hype rather than incorporate them into the Rebels and Empire.

I'm guessing the huge Scum ship will be a Hutt starship, it pretty much just looks like a spaceworthy version of Jabba's Sail Barge and will fit the theme well and look familiar enough for casual fans.

agree on the stealthx, because the rebels need a stealth fighter to counter the phantom, but im afraid FFG has already said that prequels ships are a no-go.

I would like to see:

the Wild Carrde

Mara Jade in a Scum Z95

Corran Horn in a CorSec Xwing

The Ghost

Skipray Blastboat

TIE Avenger.

Sooner or later, they will run out of ships to do and need something new. Or, in this case, old.

It wouldn't be the first time a company has said that they wouldn't do a thing... and then did it.

If for some reason the game ever introduces atmospheric combat, I'd love to see the Snow Speeder and the T-16 Skyhopper.

OP, I feel like I'm the only one in my playgroup who knows jack about the Rogue Squadron games. It'd be insanely cool to see a TIE Hunter, maybe give it a choice in attacks: either a 2 red-die primary or a 3 red dice primary that, for the purpose of damage effects, counts as an Ion Cannon. Alternatively you could give it 3 blue dice for an Ion primary, with one minor change: 2 hits, 1 crit, 2 focus and 3 blanks. The Ion Crit isn't cancelled when cancelling die results in addition to other hit results, and also counts as a critical damage.

From Empire At War / Forces of Corruption, for a Scum large ship there's always the IPV-1 System Patrol Craft. At 120m, it's a bit smaller than the Raider and fits into the game's scale, though the ship is derived from Imperial design and may not fit with the rest of the Scum aesthetic.

In the future I'd like to see:

  • The Raider finally get here
  • The Star Jewel as a scum epic ship
  • An aces pack for the TIE Defender and Bomber with more ordnance fixes
  • An aces pack for the E-wing and X-wing with some really great astromech choices and elite generic pilots
  • The Imperial Inquisitor's TIE from Rebels
  • The Ghost from Rebels (with some mechanic that hinders its turret or makes it not a true turret)
  • The rest of the Bounty Hunters for Scum
  • Another scum ship with the salvaged astromech slot to add more options

I'm primarily an Imperial player and I think that most of the rest of the TIE variants either are too obscure/stupid looking (You think the Punisher looks bad there's waaaaay worse) or would be redundant from a design perspective (i.e. they fill a role already covered by one of the other TIE's pretty well) The TIE Inquisitor's ship is at least well known and canon now, plus it looks pretty cool. It could be like a better priced TIE advanced without the special fix title. Offering something between the 12 and 20+ point bracket. The other possibility would be a TIE scout that would be a light support ship.

Eventually I wouldn't mind a second edition of the game that streamlines the rules, updates cards and incorporates the new trilogy era ships and factions. They could sell a new core set and include the updated cards in new reprints of the ship expansions, let the older edition ship expansions and core sets go out of print and then sell a conversion pack for all of us that have large first edition collections. That seems like it would be a ways down the road though.

Wouldn't the missile-boat be a 1 firepower ship?

My guess would be 3 missiles and a torpedo (for extra munitions) and 1 firepower and SLAM.

But for me S&V needs a few more ships.

It had one cannon but a real high rof so it'd be two attack I'd think.

This seems to have turned away from the original point of the thread, which was about where you want the ships to come from and why, rather than which ships you want.

For me, it's the following ships. They're all from X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, which I grew up playing and absolutely loved.

TIE Avenger (Imperial)

Assault Gunboat (Imperial)

T-Wing (Rebel or Rebel/Scum)

R-41 Starchaser (Rebel or Rebel/Scum)

I've read almost all the novels written and nothing from them particularly stands out to me as a ship I'd really want to see in the game. What I would like though, are some of the Wraith Squadron pilots to make it into the game as additional X-Wing pilots.

The Pulsar Skate

Tri-Fighter "Clutch" (From I, Jedi)

various Uglies

Twi'Lek Deathseeds

Chiss Clawcraft

YT-2000

Jodo Kast's Foxcatch

Jade's Fire/ Sabre/ Shadow

Tarrvin-on-Kallik Blade-32

On a different note, the sort of expansion I'd like to see would be a campaign booklet, detailing officially how ships and pilots might develop and grow from one game to the next, and how the results of one game could affect the next game. There are many different ways to run a campaign, from ladders to maps to nodes to narrative styles, and I think it might help to encourage a move away from the dreadfully dull 100 point competitive dogfight. It could include a range of new pilot cards, new rules and importantly a range of new scenarios to play!

Oooh, yeah. An official "Story Mode".

If you're interested in a campaign, there's a thread where some of us are trying to work out the rules for such a thing HERE .

I'd like another wave that included ships closer to the core trilogy again. That's not completely ugly or obscure ships.

The scum also need two ships to the imperial/rebel one. I'd also like to see a campaign box set that boosts xwings and tie fighters again.

The punishing one and mist hunter are two ships not shown on the movies but whose pilots/bounty hunters were shown.

Dengar and 4-lom/zuckus respectively.

A box with a tie repaint and xwing repaint and a title for each. Zero cost

Rogue one adds an additional green die at range 3

Tie avenger adds an additional red die at range 1

Those titles with a few additional upgrade cards for them would make those ships strong again.

The xwing title makes xwings more survivable until they get closer.

The tie title makes ties stronger vs heavy evade ships that tend to ignore 2 red die ships

The box should also contain a campaign book with two player scenarios using predesigned lists in an escalating story mode following a faction through several games.

But.... the Pulsar Skate is a CR90. We already have that. It'd just be a title. Agree on the uglies for scum, there are endless scum ships to be had from uglies.

Where did you get that idea? The Pulsar Skate is a Baudo-class star yacht:
