Do these expansions come with anything unique (abilities, pilots, etc.)? I'm trying to decide whether they are worth getting, or if I should just get an extra core set.

Yes they do. And most people think they are very valuable expansions.

wave 1 expacs all the way for the shiny new cards (quite a lot of them are incredible fun )

I don't know exactly which cards are unique, but here's a partial list, there may be more, and I may be wrong about some. But there is definitely cards that come in the expansion packs that aren't in the core.

If you own 2 Core sets should you buy more than 1 of each CR-90 and Neb-B expansion pack?

buy more than one cr-90 only if you want to cr-90 spam (pretty sure almost every card there is unique, mainly MM raymus and the titles, and there can only be one of each in a list)

Nebs have the more universal upgrades in the x-17s and intels, but for casual games you can always proxy those cards. Personally had trouble fitting more than two of either upgrade in a 300 point list.

IMO the only two 'Are you kidding!?' upgrades that are unique to setts are X17s in the Neb-B, and Flight Controllers in the VSD. All the others are uniques, or ones you'd have copies of, or situational and not widespread.

Flight Controllers and X17 Turbolasers though... so useful.
