Ocean Expansion? How about this?

By 0beron, in Talisman

Well.....some very interesting background in the Harbringer Expansion page. Here is the quote:

Uncertain Ground

According to another prophecy, the entire world rests upon a glacier that has become too warm, and soon the glacier’s ice will crack, causing the world to split into many pieces. Some fragments will survive to endlessly float upon the cosmic sea, but many others will not.

A planet-wide or perhaps an "island-wide" glacier melting glacier implies a lot of water...is this an early indicator of the Ocean Expansion??????????

I didn't think of that myself, TM1, but ... Hmmmmmm?

I did notice more detail on "terrain cards" and terraforming concepts. It is interesting that some of the cards previewed yesterday indicate random picking of terrain cards which means those that use all/other expansions, like The Firelands, which also has terrain cards, will see those in the mix of the Harbinger's effects on the game.

As some have noted the possible "fire vs ice" scenarios, if you use only/mostly the Frost March and Fireland expansions, I wonder if some of the Fireland cards will negate, enhance, etc, some of the Omen/Harbinger cards. That's why I love this game. I like how different and new factors influence other previous factors.

And of course, while not what we might expect, some future expansion may have Ocean terrain cards....

I 've had an hour or two to over-focus on Talisman (a favorite activity), and it occurs to me - though it might not be an acceptable solution for die-hard "Ocean" fans, but the cards used for Realms, Character/Toad/NPCs/Alt.Endings, would make a better fit

for a terraformed, Terrain "Ocean" card. Bigger, possibly 4 "spaces". There could be several general ones with just ocean spaces to pass through, an island perhaps, but also some cards that contain special spaces, like a Whirlpool that could teleport you to the Crown or somewhere else. A Mysterious Island, perhaps.

The concept might be that the Ocean spaces are taking over the main land, and we could actually place these larger Ocean cards adjacent to each other, to overtake the main board. So another 'timed-destruction/end' theme where we race against the clock to stop the Ocean, and/or exploit, umm, explore it. etc.

Like I said before, I'm mostly a raw idea person, so perhaps someone could find merit here and do better.

Ahoy, you can find a plethora of ships to buy from the tiny dinghy to the mighty pirate ship or a magical ghost ship in the purchase deck :D

Honestly, I still think a board would be better, some water space could be replace, during the game, with volcano terrain rising from the sea to deadly effect for the character on that particular space.

That's my little brainstorming for now.

Cheers

Still want this expansion!

Please consider it "powers that be think tank"!

Please consider it before any talks about new editions start!

Maybe make it a spiritual successor to timescape or something!
