Like everything else in this game, ever, it really depends on what you're up against.
Corran +fcs+marksmanship, why is this not a thing
Predator or Marksmanship allows Corran to switch targets between double tapping, finishing one target off and moving on the the next one with a way to modify dice against both. Very effective against swarms. FCS forces you to shoot at the same target twice basically.

FCS is also a point cheaper and uses a different slot. It's not Predator vs. Marksmanship vs. FCS, for instance, it's vs. FCS + VI.
I personally have switched to PTL Corran so I can turtle/maximize my offense. I used to take VI but I have moved away from that.
What do you guys think of Marksmanship, FCS, R2D2, EI?
That way you can use mm and still evade or boost. However, I think I personally still would take the universally useful PTL. Just wanted to see what you all thought.
R2D2 was my other option for a droid. Unquestionably better than r2f2. I went with r2f2 anyway since he can be triggered with experimental interface and, being cheaper, allowed me to give Tarn his required astromech.

if you just want EI to enable MM, you're really just better off with PTL and a more efficient MM (Focus) double-tap be damned

The thread is about FCS + MM its a requirment ![]()
Because the best Corran is PtL+AdvSens+R2D2? (EU optional)
The ability to Focus and Evade (or Boost) and then clear Stress (and probably grab a Shield) is just too good.
No PTL means your expensive E-wing will have a bad day sooner rather than later, given you want him close to make the most of that double tap you want all the tokens you can get.
It'd be a different matter if he was hanging around range three but that's not corrans playground.
I disagree. Corran can be quite effective even without PTL. There have been competitive builds that run VI instead of PTL as well. You have more options for maneuvering when you don't need a shield recharge if you aren't stressing most of the turns. There's definitely more than one way to build a Corran.
Usually, that's because they can't afford Push the Limit.

That actually sounds really fun. It's probably too expensive to recover the investment, but I'm going to give it a try tonight.
I gave Marksmanship Corran a shot last weekend alongside Airen Cracken -- it worked pretty well, but I was playing a new guy, so take it as you will. I gave Cracken an Engine Upgrade as Corran had one, to better keep them somewhat together. Cluster Missiles on Cracken for more fun, as well.
It's way too situational to be tourney-ready, but it was fun.
Not tournament friendly. I tried it and failed miserably. Last place.
A corran without green modifiers is a dead corran. I had the same thought, that marksmanship would insure my double hits went well and the TLs would cinch it, which would technically be true but the dice was very, very fickle. For every hit/focus i got, the enemy rolled just as many evades. Then they just poured into him and he couldnt dodge a thing.
Probably fun in an aces squad in a friendly, easy game, but don't entertain the thought of this being viable in a tournament, because it's not.
You need PtL and engine if you have the points. If you don't he'll get one double tap and then die.
Marksmanship is also kind of a bad upgrade. You're paying 3 points for a slightly better focus action. And by, "slightly better" I actually mean worse since it can only be used on offense.
Predator does pretty much the same thing except it doesn't require an action.

I really think Predator+Sensors can work fine in lists that take it instead of PTL+FCS. You've got to be a bit better at predicting opponent's arc-dodging but your offense can be about as strong through Predator.
Either way, VI+FCS Corran is what's shown up the most in top 8s in the regionals and is the only Corran that's won a regional. Going after Soontir and pancakes is a big defensive boost (pancakes, even Han, are mostly running Predator these days, or possibly Lone Wolf).
Marksmanship last the whole round meaning it applies to both attacks flipping an eyeball to a crit both times. This would let him hit that much harder when he gets to do so, and yet we don't see him with this load pretty much ever. Why do you think that is?
I made a Dash Corran build. Dash+HLC+Pred+Outrider and Corran with Marksmanship+FCS+R2D2+Shield Upgrade. Pretty much I fire with Corran and just focus to get the target lock, then next turn Marksmenship so I have 3 (sometimes four) with TL. It hits like a truck. The extra shield keeps him alive longer and of course R2 helps as well.
I've tried every way i can think of to make FCS+MM work. I'm giving up. The offensive bang is just not worth giving up defensive options. In trying I've found something i think i like though.
Corran
Fire control system
outmanoeuvre
R2F2
Experimental interface
Kyle Katarn
Wingman
autoblaster turret
moldy crow
Biggs Darklighter
R4-d6
corran evades and uses r2f2 every round kyle passes focuses first to biggs and once hes dead to corran and strips corrans stress
this gives Corran focus plus evade and 4 defence dice. If they go after kyle first, good, now i have two biggs and have added 10 hull to corran.
