Raider Preview!

Also Vorpal I'm assuming you are an adult so unless you are a child please grow up. There was zero reason to be snarky. Unless you are incapable of defending your points with debate you don't have to stoop to that level.

The one hand clapping comment added nothing to your point and using debate tactics along that vein are for the weak of mind. I've seen you make some really good arguments and argue your points well in the past. You are better than that so please leave that nonsense out of the debate or Please don't bother replying.

This is the internet. Snark or go home...

But there is a third option Vorpal. That's that he is a crew card but not a <crew symbol> upgrade. Moff shows one symbol. It says <one symbol> upgrade not "crew upgrade". I can see where people would argue that the symbol is a placeholder for the actual word. HOWEVER that is not stated explicitly. So since palpatine is obviously a "crew upgrade" but it's not so clear if he counts as a "<single symbol> upgrade" you can argue either way and make sense. Those two things have a subtle difference but by RAW are not mutually inclusive.

Except in the preview he is repeatedly referred to as a crew upgrade. Jerjerrod is able to discard crew upgrades to flip crits. Until specifically proven otherwise Jerjerrod can discard Palpatine. Any other suggestion is baseless speculation and supposition.

Jfilmer I'm not saying he's not a crew upgrade. In fact I said he definitely is. However you are ignoring the point I made. Moff doesn't discard a "crew upgrade" he discards a "<crew symbol> upgrade". Please see my post above as I don't want to repeat the same point I already made. It's subtle but it's not necessarily the same.

Sithborg you are right. Forgot this was a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Too used to the order of the central worlds I fear :P

It says <one symbol> upgrade not "crew upgrade".

Wow, Kir Kanos is even worse than we thought. He can't even do any damage with his stupid [boom symbol]. :(

Kir Kanos adds one [boom] result to your dice roll (written identically to Adv. Targeting Computer). Palpatine is one card that adds two [crew] upgrades to your ship. Jerjerrod discards one "[crew] upgrade card" from your ship.

Could potentially go either way, but the language leans toward being able to discard Palpatine.

Moff doesn't discard a "crew upgrade" he discards a "<crew symbol> upgrade."

I mean come on, people, why is this even a discussion? This is "can I attack my own ship?" levels of inane.

I didn't ignore your point. I refuted it. There's no subtlety involved, only supposition that doesn't match anything we've seen from the game before.

Well crap, Advanced Targeting Computer needs to be fixed, too! :o

Also, while we're being pedantic, [booms] and [kabooms] are hardly identical.

Check the back of your crew upgrades. What symbol do you see there?

See item 5 on page 19.

The rules state that the icon on the FRONT of the card is used for identification.

See item 5 on page 19.

Oops. Wait. Start the debate over, guys, some of us didn't realize we were supposed to be using the rules.

And what icon is in the lower left corner of P's card, just to the left of the second crew symbol icon?

It says <one symbol> upgrade not "crew upgrade".

Well, if we're going to just ignore half of what's on the card then I guess you're right.

They're not and cards that trigger on booms don't trigger on kabooms or have you never had a Damaged Sensor Array or minor explosion?

I'm aware of that but it has nothing to do with what I posted.

Seeing as how you are so handy with the rule book can you point out the part that says having multiple versions of the same icon makes the upgrade belong to a different class?

Oh, we're back to the part where I show the screen cap of the PDF that says "this is where the type of upgrade goes" and remind everyone that the numbers two and one are different?

Because we were here a while ago.

jesus christ did this really devolve into an argument over a silly combo that is ultimately worthless in anything apart from silly games where **** it, why not toss him out the air lock...?

a **** it, we all know why you're really arguing

How about you read the preview where it describes the card as a 'crew upgrade'? Not a 'double crew upgrade' or 'special crew upgrade' or anything else.

Congratulations sir! You have bested me with your superior application of logic and reason - I'll be sure to remember this thread when FFG is forced to produce an FAQ for this card just because dummies like me can't operate on the same level as intellectual titans such as yourself.

In here, they say "Moff Jerjerrod who can save the ship from suffering the most destructive critical hits. In fact, since Moff Jerjerrod can sacrifice other crew to save the ship from critical hits". We all agree that Palpatine is a crew, and here we have from FFG themselves that Moff J discards crew. Pretty clear cut.

Atleast the tread doesn't have 2 [clusterfck symbol]'s on it. Then I don't even know what we'd have...

Moff cant work because the Emperor would use the force to read his week mind see his intent then make Moff arilock him self

I am very and truly sorry that you have gone this far in your life unable to tell the difference between the numbers two and one. Forever more this will be called jfilmer's disease.

Other symptoms include the inability to distinguish pictures from textual colloquialisms.
