though the Empire was notoriously Xenophobic to non-humans...

It was also notoriously sexist as well... The idea of female Tie pilot, even a lowly Tie Fighter was completely unheard of at one point in the EU.

That changed over time in the EU, where it became less xenophobic and less sexist. However how much of that will survive Eps 7 is hard to say

Just based on a lot of the new EU, the sexist part is pretty much gone.

Edit: Stuff and Things

The moff card doesn't state "one crew icon" though. So I see no reason you couldn't throw Palpatine out.
It uses one icon. That says you can only eject one icon.

The rules are permissive, which means you can only do what cards explicably inform you to do. Jerjerpd doesn't say he can eject two crews, or double crews, so he can't.

If you look in the core rulebook you'll see that an upgrade is identified by the icon in the lower left of the card (not the back). Since two icons are not one icon they are separate upgrades and not covered by Mofftor J.

It says he can eject a crew icon, it has a crew icon... you don't seriously think the double crew icon is a new icon type right? please tell me you are just being difficult...

It's not a stretch to look at the rule book and say "yup, what's printed here is accurate an absolute."

I agree that there will be an FAQ or whatever but right now, using the information we currently have, you can't Jerjerod the Emperor.

So quote the rule book.

As you can see the identification of the upgrade type is made at point five. The emperor has a double crew as it's icon. Does jerjerod say he can jet a double crew icon? No? Then he can't.

Palpatine doesn't have a "double crew" icon. He has two "crew" icons.

If we use your logic regarding icons it means that you are unable to put any crew but Palpatine in a Shuttle because it has a "double crew" icon and that there is currently no way to fill the "triple crew" slot of the VT-49.

Pretty much.

The only legitimate thing you could ask is, if the Moff ejects the Emperor, does that flip two crits?

I would say a resounding "hell no", but like I said, this is more legitimate than asking whether or not it can be done at all.

Right, moff J can discard one icon. Can palpatine exist with just one icon left? No? Then a side effect of the moff discarding one of palpatine's icons must be that the other one goes along as well.

This argument strikes me as very similar to the x 1 on vader debate. I personally think you should be able to eject the emperor and I am pretty sure that it will own out that you can...but we will see.

That's not what I said, but good effort!

Two crew icons = one double crew icon, so yeah, that's pretty much exactly what you said.

That looks like it's exactly what you wrote. You asserted that the Emperor has an icon that is a double crew icon and that Jerjerrod is unable to jet a double crew icon.

The emperor has a double crew as it's icon. Does jerjerod say he can jet a double crew icon? No? Then he can't.

When two of the same upgrade icons are next to each other, are they a double icon or are they just two icons that happen to match?

Sure you can.

Moff J. can discard a "crew upgrade card." The symbol on the back of Palpy indicates it is a "crew upgrade card."

I'm kind of surprised that a squad from an FFG preview article is something I'd consider flying.

squad-1.png

That squad is stupid strong. You basically can't kill fel and jax is a pain.

The entire point of the omicron is to play keep away and lure your opponent.

You basically need to kill the omicron then deal with jax then try to kill fel. But at that point your facing fel with a weakened list.

Or do you go after fel and let jax screw you for a while?

All you need is Doominator. Vader crew still crits, no matter what Palpy has designed.

I'm a little surprised we went a whole 7 pages without anyone asking the question: If I kill the Emperor, shouldn't I just win?

I do feel this is a legitimate question, from a fluff perspective. Or, at the very least, if I kill the Emperor AND Vader...I win?

If you fail you lose though...if their ship flies off the board they count as escaping...making it an imperial victory

When I first read the card, I assumed Sheev could change an entire roll, not just one die. I do hope they FAQ that- I had visions of a Whisper at Range 1 doling out 5 crits.

This looks like a nice defensive buff to me. A red die has 4/8 success faces, but a green die has only 3/8 success faces. So I can use my tokens on offense, and Palpetine on Defense, or build hyper defensively and let the Emperor guide my dice on offense. Either way, I'm getting a lot more out of my defenses than usually would. Long live the Emperor!

I also thought you could change an entire roll. "Duh. All crits." -Me

Since there is a 7th movie, with a significant remnant of the Imperial Forces under a different name after the death of Palapatine and Vader...I would say, from a fluff perspective - apparently not.

The empire will continue in some form even without Palpy and Vader.

Besides, even if you did blow up one of the shuttles he is in, he probably has some kind of escape pod capability.

And if even THAT fails, he'll just be resurrected in one of his clone doubles. ;)

Couldn't get Big Pappa Palp out of my head. So this happened:

big%20pappa%20palp.png

Yeah... that never happened... Palpatine was never buff... anti-dark path theory... why work for it when you have it?

Kenkirk Palpatine Isard. And the "Empire Strikes Back"...

Fat Han you say? How about Fat Kirk... Or Bill Shatner.

If you only knew the power... of my deadlift.

Killing the Emperor doesn't kill the Empire. Apparently lots of people like living in orderly, human-biased regimes.

There's still an Empire in Legacy so yeah, Empire is a thing.
