But there is a third option Vorpal. That's that he is a crew card but not a <crew symbol> upgrade.
There is no such thing in the rules as a "crew card". Either he's a [crew] upgrade card, or he's some other type.
PewPewPew keeps saying that there's a critical difference between a [crew] upgrade and a [crew][crew] upgrade. And that's possible, but very implausible because it's (a) not parsimonious, (b) potentially very confusing, and © breaks all future interactions between Palpatine and anything that affects [crew] upgrades.
There's a simpler, less confusing, and future-proof way to handle it, and that is to treat Palpatine as a [crew] upgrade card.
Also Vorpal I'm assuming you are an adult so unless you are a child please grow up. There was zero reason to be snarky.
Yes, there was: I enjoy being snarky.
The one hand clapping comment added nothing to your point...
But it was funny. Also, PewPewPew was/is being ridiculous, and humor is a perfectly appropriate reaction to someone being ridiculous.
More seriously, suppose someone came on the boards and started shouting that Luke Skywalker is the best X-wing pilot because he gets to convert an [eye] results to a [boom] result when he attacks. How should we respond to that? You can argue the rules, but this hypothetical poster claims he's following the rules as written and just keeps repeating the same claim, with no further support.
There's nothing to argue with, because this hypothetical person starts and ends with an assumption he's not willing to reconsider. There's not much to do with that person except make jokes and (here, at least) start talking about breakfast food.
So here I started making wisecracks, and WonderWAAAGH brought up bacon. I'd call that an example of specialization of labor in action, but really it's more of a coincidence: WonderWAAAGH can be pretty funny, and I'm also a proponent of preserved pork products, so it could have gone either way.
In hopes that we can talk about more exciting things...
What are some lists/combos you want to use that includes Palpatine?
Um, all of them. Any of them that have been in front of me all these years.
Well I started this way back around page 6. When you think about it this is what ffg wants. This is one of the main reasons they have previews. They want us to review the card and ask questions, so they can see if they missed any logic or card interaction. This way they can add it to the FAQ before the release.
No, they don't. By the time the previews show up, it's too late to make changes: the cards and cardboard have entered the printing process.
Some people have analytical minds and jobs which require precise thinking and focus. I understand where pew is coming from. My wife has to constantly tell me to stop analyzing it some much and accept that something's are not 100% defined. It hard for people with our training and thought processes to do.
We are very much RAW in our lives and sometimes we take it too far.
Is that so? I was an engineer and then a technical writer before I went back to school to work in a field that focuses on statistics and research design. Perhaps you can tell me more about this idea of analysis.
However, in this case I think we have helped ffg discover something which now they will clearly fix by release date. Think of our minds as Sheldon from Big Bang. Then you will understand our thought processes a little better and why we must state these things.
This has helped FFG discover, if they didn't already know it, that there's no interaction in this game too simple to be misinterpreted. I'm not sure how helpful that will really be, though.
