Different kind of Defender talk

Tractor beam defender: when a ship reveals it's dial and is in your firing arc at range 1-2, if you are not stressed, you may take a stress token to reduce the speed of that maneuver by 1. (Speed 1 maneuvers become a

Full Stop, full stops cannot be reduced)

They need to embrace the red a bit, something like Soontir: "When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 evade token to your ship."

To me, this gives the hard red turns an evasive quality (sudden, unpredicted, high speed change of direction) to offset the loss of a normal action. It would not necessarily open the dial up, but it would offset the penalties of stress.

Similarly, you could have a Keyan-esque ability: "You may spend a stress token to convert all [focus] results to [evade] results."

Neither would be overpowered (as defensive upgrades), but do a lot to make the ships more durable, which helps offset being overpriced.

That would be pretty cool. Both Rex and Vessery are really geared up for cannons, in my opinion. Something like that would be a cool close-range brawler Defender.

I like the idea of doing something with stress

My contribution - 'While attacking or defending, you may reroll one die if you have at least 1 stress token'

I also really like the idea someone posted about Tie Defenders attacks also giving an ion token when they hit. The idea of the Defender firing all its guns at once is closer to how the Defenders were portrayed in the Tie series and how the Onyx squadron pilot is portrayed in its card art
