The scum

By painter88, in X-Wing

Brand new here. Planning on. Buying first fleet on friday. I am planning on scum and villainy. But I have a question about ships. I haven't found a clear answer to this. But what I've gathered it seems you can use a slave in the scum faction. I'm getting core set and the most wanted expansion. Can I use the head hunter with one of my scum pilots since they're the same ship. And are their any other ships that scum can use that's not in its faction

The Most Wanted box comes with cards and dials for the Firespray-31 (e.g. Slave I) and HWK-290 (e.g. Moldy Crow). Those two, plus obviously the Y-Wing and Z-95, are the cross-faction ships that Scum can field.

Playing S&V as your primary faction's going to be a little difficult, as it really assumes that you have a healthy amount of other ships, to the point of being a card/dial only faction for some of its best options.

However, welcome to the game, which will be more fun with your presence :)

Should point out that the Most Wanted box comes with a second Y-wing dial as well. So, in no particular order, you can pick up a Slave I, HWK, and a Y-wing expansion to fully use the components in Most Wanted. I would add to that when you can an IG-2000 and maybe a starviper. Can make plenty of fun Scum lists with all that.

Also a Core Set, and if you're truly being hardcore Scum, sell off the models/cards from the core to other new players, leaving you the dice, templates, and tokens.

Available ships for Scum are as follows:

Y-Wing - Originally Individual Rebel ship in FFG Wave 1 release; 1 comes in the Most Wanted Expansion pack with 6 Pilot cards and 2 dials.

Slave 1 - Originally Individual Imperial ship in FFG Wave 2 release; Most Wanted Expansion pack includes 4 pilot cards and 1 dial.

HWK-290 - Originally Individual Rebel ship in FFG Wave 3 release; Most Wanted Expansion pack includes 4 pilot cards and 1 dial.

Z-95 - Originally Individual Rebel ship in FFG Wave 4 release; 2 come in the Most Wanted Expansion pack with 6 Pilot Cards and 2 dials.

M3-A Scyk Interceptor - Scum Individual Ship in Wave 6 release. 4 pilot cards and 1 dial.

StarViper - Scum Individual Ship in Wave 6 release. 4 pilot cards and 1 dial.

IG-2000 Agressor - Scum Individual Ship in Wave 6 release. 4 pilot cards and 1 dial.

You can use the original Rebel/Imperial dials that come with individual ships as they are the same maneuvers as Scum dials.

The ship base tokens and pilot cards are different.

Below is a link to show you the different products. If you click on each one it breaks down what is included with each set.

Wave 7 will provide 2 more Scum ships, but they have not been released yet.

Just so you know, the core set's 1 X-wing & 2 TIEs is about 1/4 to 1/3 of a full 100 point squad, while Most Wanted's 3 ships count for at least 1/2 a fleet. To get the full 100 point for Scum & Villainy you can add one of these:

- a second Most Wanted set

- a Firespray (Slave-1)

- an Aggressor (IG-2000)

- a StarViper with either a HWK-290, M3-A or a rebel Z-95 (using the pilot cards, and base token from the Most Wanted set)

IG-2000 might not be the best option to start with since a few of the upgrades that really make it shine come in older Rebel & Imperial expansion packs. I does come with some really good upgrade options, but the build you'll see most people using uses cards from Slave-1 or Outrider / StarViper / B-wing or TIE Phantom / E-wing or Shuttle / A-wing or Imperial Aces / TIE Defender.
