Fighter expansion II

By MaverickNZ, in Star Wars: Armada

Whats the bet we see another wave of fighter expansions for wave 3?

Rebel Fighters II

X-Wing - Biggs Darklighter: When an enemy squadron you are engaged with attacks, it must attack you if possible. (Brace, Brace)

Y-Wing - Horton Salm: Friendly squadrons at distance 1 who are attacking with their battery armament may reroll blank results. (Brace, Brace)

A-Wing - Arvel Crynyd: when attacking, if you are in base contact with your target you may add one dice of an existing colour to your attack pool. (Brace, Scatter)

B-Wing - Ten Numb : When attacking, one of your attack dice cannot be negated by defense tokens. (Brace, Brace)

Imperial Fighters II

TIE Fighter - Backstabber: When moving into engagement with an enemy squadron, if that squadron is already engaged it suffers 1 damage. (Brace, Scatter)

TIE Bomber - Captain Jonus: When attacking a ship, if the defending hull zone has no sheilds, you may add an additional dice to your attack pool. (Brace, Brace)

TIE Interceptor - Turr Phennir: After you attack a squadron, you may move, even if you are engaged. (Brace, Scatter)

TIE Advanced - Maarek Stele: You may reroll any of your critical hit results once. (Brace, Brace)

I don't know if it will sell. Who wants to pay $20 for four cardboard discs?

I think most people would just trade for the cardboard, given the heroes appear on both discs.

Now if it was an ace pack with 4 different aces for each model, that would be worthwhile.

Well that depends on how many of the fighter packs you had already bought, if you only got one then it would be perfect to complete that four set of something you wanted.

Oh look, there is the TIE Defender pack AND it comes with 2 TIE Advanced and one of ths9se is a new Hero! Bonus!

I would love it if they included heroes with the main ships. I was a bit surprised there was only one hero per squadron.

Like if they included a Lando/Chewie disc with the MC80.

IMO any new A-Wing pilot added needs to be Pash Cracken. Should've been Pash to begin with, given Tycho spends most of his career in an X-Wing anyway.

Lando is in the MC30 :3

The smart move for FFG would be to sneak a set of already released squadrons into future fighter packs.

More likely they repaint the ships and sell them with different cards.

Yeah, FFG has never released a pilot card in X-Wing (that I am aware of) without also the mini that goes with it, which is why I suggested it as a second round of the same fighters :P

Maverick, FFG has released dials and cards in X-Wing without the mini. S&V box set includes cards and dials for Hawks and Firesprays, as well as the cardboard for 2 Y-wings even tho it only includes 1 Y-wing. An unusual case to be sure (introducing a whole new faction is unique in SW miniatures gaming... so far...) but still an example that it could be done.

TallGiraffe, they would have to paint the fighter models first before they could do a special repaint! ;)

If I had to guess, wave 3 fighter packs will simply give us the remaining X-Wing fighters that we are missing so far in Armada. Mind you, I could really get behind the idea of a pack with 2x defenders, 2x phantoms and 1 each of the original 4 fighters with new elite pilot options. Rebels would be 2x E-wings, 2x Z-95's and once again 1 of each original fighter with new elite pilots.

Ah, that would be the point at which I stopped buying X-Wing with the imminent release of Armada :P
