Ten Numb, 1 Blue and 3 z´s

By Fuego Estelar, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have used this list today, with very good results, in a local tournament in a RPG club southern Spain. It´s more suitable to kill interceptors, but I have played 2 games against rebels (one of them with Fat Han) and one against a 2 scum firesprays.

I have used the two bandits to block, and the tala, the blue and obviously Ten Numb as killers.

Hope you like the list.

100 points

PILOTS

Ten Numb (39)
B-Wing (31), Advanced Sensors (3), “Mangler” Cannon (4), Veteran Instincts (1)

Blue Squadron Pilot (24)
B-Wing (22), Fire-Control System (2)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x 2

Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

I would downgrade the Tala to a bandit so you can move the Z-95s in what ever order you choose to block more efficiently. Otherwise seems solid. ;)

I've used this similar list to good success:

Blue Squadron Pilot (32) x 2

B-Wing (22), Advanced Sensors (3), B-Wing/E2 (1), Tactician (2), Mangler Cannon (4)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x 3

Z-95 Headhunter (12)

I've used this similar list to good success:

Blue Squadron Pilot (32) x 2

B-Wing (22), Advanced Sensors (3), B-Wing/E2 (1), Tactician (2), Mangler Cannon (4)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12) x 3

Z-95 Headhunter (12)

have you tried the same list, but instead of mangler using flechette cannon, with this combination you put 2 stress per turn to a single ship in range 2!! otherwise with flechette you always put an stress token in every range ;)

I don't personally find Flechette Cannon to be worth it, for three reasons:

(1) You can't double stress -- the stress doesn't apply if the target is already stressed, unlike Tactician or a Flechette Torpedo which can stack stress (though you can get double stress on a single shot if you have Tactician at range 2 and fire the FC against an unstressed ship); and

(2) It cancels damage down to 1, again unlike a Flechette Torpedo or a Mangler + Tactician, which can both retain full damage. (Flechette Torps having of course the downsides that they're single use and only stress under 4 hull, but they're great against Phantoms or Interceptors, particularly when fired as Ner Dantels' butt torpedoes).

(3) The Flechette Cannon attack has to hit to deal stress, again unlike Tactician or Flechetter Torpedoes which inflict stress even on a miss.

It depends on your strategy, of course. Because Flechette Cannon is range 1-3, I think it can be worth it if it is the sole ship in your fleet putting out stress. With two ships with Tacticians, I can usually ensure at least one if not two have a range 2 arc on a particular target.

tactician can stack stress:

After you perform an attack against a ship inside your firing arc at Range 2, that ship receives 1 stress token.

so, you atack with your flechette cannon, stress that ship if your atack hits, and then the tactician bring another stress token to this ship.

I've tried it, and it works fine, cause, when you want stress a ship, you can use your range and flechette cannon, with you want damage that ship, you can shot with FCS and focus with your primary weapon and continue to stress your objective.

really give it a chance!

I was running something similar (see thread "bigg ten x wing") three bandits and Biggs instead of the blue, its nit bad but it struggles against some of the damage mitigation heavy lists that can recover health since ten is basically your only offense. The Zs are nice again midrange ships, but they get eaten by the four dice ships and cant punch through the damage reduction guys.

I forgot to mention, I won the tournament. Ok, it was only a 8 people tournament, nothing official, but the list worked properly (I also had a few good rolls).

Last match against exactly the same list that won the 2014 world championship. In this match as soon as I could I went with my 5 ships against the three talas, I used one of the bandits to block and the enemy talas were destroyed in two turns with no loses, then the falcon had to fight against 5 ships and was destroyed, killing me only the blue squadron B-Wing.

I think I am going to use this list more often. It has 28 hit points, wich 16 are shields, 12 attack dices and a good balance between high ps ships (Ten Numb) and several ships I can use to block.
