2 questions to help a Newbie out.

By iPanterra, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi Guys

I apologise if this has been brought up in the past but im new here.

I have 2 questions regarding Initiative & asteroid/obstacles.

I understand that if you or your opponent have initiative, the end effect is, if you and your opponent have the same lvl pilot skill, you manoeuvre first, complete your actions to avoid potential overlapping and also attack first in the attack phase

1: If you or your opponent has "Initiative" does this effect who places first on the board?

situation a: I have initiative and my pilot skill is the same as my opponent.

(who places their ships first on the board)?

situation b: My opponent has initiative but has higher lvl pilot skill.

(who places their ships first on the board)?

2: I understand if you are shooting a target through an asteroid your target gets an additional dice on top of what his/her agility is, however if there are 2-3 asteroids in the way... does this mean that person gets an additional 2-3 dice "on top of the additional dice he gets initially?

Initiative is for all tie breakers when deciding who goes first so includes placing obstacles.

The rule for obstructed shots is just for the shot being obstructed, not per obstruction so only ever one extra defence die.

Edit..

Initiative only matters for deployment when talking about equal PS pilots. If Imperials have initiative, Soontir Fel (ps9) deploys before Wedge (also ps 9) would but would still be after all the lower PS rebel guys were placed.

1) Initiative affects order of resolution for placement of asteroids, placement of ships and moving/shooting once the game begins. Initiative is basically used as a tie breaker. With the exception of asteroids, this only has an affect when both players are fielding ships with the exact same Pilot Skill. In that case, the player with initiative places/moves/shoots first.

For example, both players each have a ship with Pilot Skill of 2. The player with initiative would place his PS 2 ship first, then the other player. When moving, the player with initiative moves his PS 2 ship first, followed by the other player, and then the player with initiative shoots with his PS 2 ship first. Note that if the player that lost initiative has his PS 2 ship destroyed, he still gets to shoot his PS 2 ship due to simultaneous fire rule.

2) You only ever get 1 extra green die for an obstructed shot. No matter how many asteroids/debris you shoot through.
