Any ideas what would be good for CoC? I was thinking making the necronomicon would be cool. the winning faction would get it, what its ability would be Im not sure. Maybe something like if you have more skill as a defender, exhaust and get a success token on that story. just the idea that us players could place a powerful card (whatever it would be) in a faction of our choice would be alot of fun.

Truly an excellent idea, PJA.

I'm not playing AGoT, and even then I'm not thrilled at the idea. Having a pre-made card, then have it -for all intents and purposes- randomly assigned to a faction seems bad for faction identity. Sure, if it's a Neutral card in design, it would be less of a blow, but few abilities are truly neutral-worthy in my opinion.

It could be fun. If the card is done right. And if it ends up in Syndicate... ;)

If the card had a mythos feel and an ability that is not solidly akin to one faction, that would help. It could be a card so powerful that it does not count as a resource at all. It could have some doppleganger effect that reflects any number of abilities, depending on what faction you are playing.

But George R R Martin's depiction of the melee and the tourneys in general and the trial by combat, which are super great, lends to this type of construct. To be cthulesque it would need some other ubiquitous element, like a new LCG nyarly that causes havoc only when multiple factions of characters are in play.

Umm...FFG is doing something like this for Cthulhu:

From the second League Kit announcement:

The new league kit features a storyline that players can contribute to by playing matches in their league. Each league kit includes voting forms which players can win through league participation. The votes of league participants will affect the design of future cards and change the metagame!

In this Call of Cthulhu LCG league, the Mythos factions, Investigator factions, and every thing in between will contend to control the infamous Elder Sign, an object of immense and terrifying power. Will the Elder Sign be locked away where it is safe, or used to further some devious agenda?

At least to me, this sounds like players are voting on which faction the Elder Sign ends up in.

Very nice, Hastur.

I beg a link to the league kit announcement, please !

i totally forgot about the voting sheets thing. this makes me even more excited for the upcoming league. i remember agot had them in their first league too. wonder how that went for them.

come on shubby

For Cthulhu, may be not a pre-made card but the winning faction could design a conspiracy card (not a neutral one) or a new story card, for example.

Sorry I took so long to get back. I don't check this site as often as I used to.

Here it is: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=689

This Elder Sign, from the Second League Kit Announcement, that the factions contend to control, is it a card? Is it an item you win? Is it the theme of the kit a la Julia? I recall a list of general abilities one could win? What was that about? When would a floating ability apply?

The voting forms one could win, they seem arbitrary, more a chance to get into the official records, than traceable to a player-guided new card. That's fine too, but a group of elite certified votes, from the best of us - the ones who participate in tourneys, I trust to do the whole job, dividing up how this new card is made, our card, much more egalitarian than a greg, descendant, or mentor. And those are important cards.
