Next logical Game size?

By Asmodi, in Star Wars: Armada

Played a couple of starter games with my 11 year old son last night.

Loved the game and I don't think we did too much wrong.

What would be the next logical step by way of adding a couple of things in to progress?

Think: Starter plus this, that and that.

Just something to add a little more to the mix but not overly complicate it.

Thanks

Core + Gladiator + AFm2 + Rebel Fighters + Imperial Fighters

Gives you the most variety for the cheapest investment in real cash. Personally I went with core + 1 Neb-B, 2 CR90, 1 AFm2, 1 VSD, 1 Gladiator, 2 Rebel Fighters, 2 Imperial Fighters + dice pack.

I have the core plus one of all wave 1.

So you reckon just break those open and just use them without any upgrades etc ?

Getting the Assault Frigate, Gladiator, and both fighter packs are my personal recommendations. They will give you build flexibility for the most part.

From there, another set of fighter packs, a Nebulon-B, a CR90, and lastly the VSD.

To get into wave one I'd recommend building diverse fighter-heavy lists (to showcase how they play, compared to the ships you've been leaning on already) and introduce objectives.

I would keep it at 180 points, just using the core, but add in the fleet building component using upgrades. After a couple games there you will probably be ready to use all of the components from wave 1 and do 300 point games.

Well you could always do an esscalation league. 3 games at 180, 3 games at 220, 3 games at 260, and finally you are up to 300!

Also, you'll want to wait until the 300 point game for objectives in IMHO. Just too imbalanced with only 3 ships on the board.
