I just hope there's enough of a difference in cost between imperial and victory class to keep the vic a viable option.
I wouldn't get my hopes up. I don't think the AF will see much play after wave 2, either.

Only thing might tempt me to play Rebs is those MonCal ships.

Why?
It beats the crap out of the moncal at long range per points. The moncal is the rebel vsd but on much more useful arcs
Also imagine
Ea gunnery team and Akbar on 3 whales ![]()
Do we know the point cost of the MonCal?
Also, Contain.
We know it's going to be more for the same side arc reds and one less in the front
Contain is neat but its not another brace/evade/redirect. It doesn't actively stop direct damage just the base crit effect (so no go on ACM)
Edited by ficklegreendiceI'm sorry, but this is FFG. They aren't going to make an inferior ship that won't sell because another ship from a previous wave is better. That's not even taking into account the fact that the MonCal is more thematic than the USS Humpback.
I really do expect it to replace the AF as the battleship of the Rebels.
We know it's going to be more for the same side arc reds and one less in the front
And that's an AFII advantage if you can maintain long range, but with a speed 3 ISD I think long range rebel builds are going to run into serious problems.
I imagine less people will use AF-A once the Mon Cal comes out, but AF-B with Gallant Haven will probably still be a very competitive choice.

indeed FFG won't make an inferior ship, which is exactly why the mon cal won't replace the Afmk2
I fully expect the MonCal to come into it's own and be more useful than the Afmk2 in different capacities, but if it just straight replaces the Afmk2 then FFG done ****** up
if they replace a previous wave's ship with a new wave ship, they're basically going GW status on us

we need to see the nav chart (and tractor beams!)
keeping distance isn't nearly as important as staying out of that 8 dice arc ![]()
I agree with Fickle. There's no reason that the new ships need to flat out replace the ships from the previous wave. Although I guess in the case of the Victory and Imperial Star Destroyers, there's a certain justice to it given the lore.
It's a difficult design issue to solve, I guess, when it comes to new ships being released that fulfill roles in the fleet that are already occupied by existing models. While the Impstar is going to fill the same role that the victory does, we would ideally want it to both;
a) Have a cost that is high enough to still justify using the Victory in certain lists, but;
b) Not so much higher that using the Impstar becomes so cost inefficient as to render it uncompetitive.
Now, I would be shocked if B were to happen, because they want to sell the new ship, and I'm pretty sure that if they didn't make the Imperial Class Star Destroyer awesome to play with then the nerd rage would make the distubance in the force after Alderaan look like smooth jazz. If anything, I'm sure FFG will err towards letting the Victory fade out of most lists. But if we see scenario A happen too often over the course of the game's lifespan, that can also be bad for the health of the game. I much prefer to see ships like the MC-30 and the Raider, because they present new options to their factions.
I also like DarkArk's point about Gallant Heaven. Taken a bit further, titles could be a way to keep older waves relevant. Demolisher also comes to mind as a ship I would expect to continue seeing. Depending on what kind of Bombers the Imperials get over the course of the game, Corrupter may become an even more effective choice than it is with Rhymer's Circus. I wouldn't terribly hate to see some new titles released down the line as a way of breathing new life into older waves, but there's certainly no pressing need for it, and implementation could prove problematic.
EDIT: Also in agreement with Fickle about a need to see the Nav chart / tractor beams. Depending on what tractor beams do, maybe the Vic-1 could see some new life?

No, the Mon cal is inferior to the all mighty whale.
All hail the whale.
But seriously, the Mon cal ship will be a flag ship, a command ship, where you just have one of. Some people will male fleets with 2 of them + fighters, but it will not replace dem whales.
If anything, it sounds like the AF will be getting a bunch of buffs this wave too!
FFG can easily dodge issues of obsolescence given the complexity of Armada
apart from the unique titles (which heavily distinguish each ship), the small difference in stats and arcs make a massive difference. The moncal has a VSD stapled to its sides and it is so far the single most intimidating rebel ship (apart from maybe the shrimp frigates black dice batteries). It's going to be a line-breaker to end all line-breakers, imo
the whale, though, is an unparallelled Benny Hill Theme Machine that broadsides and strafes at long range like no one else
the VSD is a slow sledge hammer, a spacecraft carrier, a Dominator (no other way to describe this awesome title), and a long range cannonade with h9 + warlord
the ISD is not as slow, might be a better carrier, and is just bristling with upgrades from the pack. We can only guess what kind of variety it'll bring to the imperial playstyle, and there's easily room for it without stepping on the VSD's toes.
I'm hoping it'll be an anchor, just the raw unmovable core of an imperial fleet that tosses out support abilities and debuffs and just bulldozes anyone foolish enough to engage it directly.
Edited by ficklegreendiceSpace Whale is most likely to be good for points cost to pair with home one.
I fervently hope you guys are right. Fickle, your point about upgrades is well taken.

Why would this being FFG warrant the assumption that subsequent releases are there to invalidate prior releases. Also why would you even consider that preferable?
The USS Humpback is the name of my flagship fattie (paragon), though ![]()
As for Haven: the Baby Beluga
At a complete loss as to what I'm calling the upcoming third one though ![]()
Put a spike on the front and call it a narwhal.
I wish I had any sort of modeling skills ![]()
Use a miniature ice cream cone dude! XD

Well, that's the narwhal song stuck in my head for the rest of the night >.<
I added the link to the Jan Ors and Boba Fett pics, the info has been updated in the OP for a few weeks.
Since wave 2 is still under developing i think manny of theese Cards and ship stats are not final.
I have found out by the Pictures that the ISD I have two diffrent commands on the same ship.
Look the Pictures available and see:
One picture says it have:
Command 3
Squadron 5
Engineering 4
The Next Picture says:
Command 3
Squadron 4
We just have to wait and see the final Product
I can't imagine they are still developing statistics and such.
Most large game companies have that stuff worked out two years in advance.
It has been over two months since they last updated us. Honestly I think they are done developing most of the stuff and are just fine tuning it at least.
