Looking for a particular ship

By That Blasted Samophlange, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I'm hoping to continue my progress on my imperial focused campaign I started a while ago. I have a good chunk of characters and crew dossiers, as it was a heavy role play game. Originally I had the idea to have the players on an imperial gozanti freighter. It has fighters, troopers and all I would need for my campaign. Since then, I have decided I wanted. Slightly larger ship. The gozanti could be bit cramped. The raider could work save for the fact that I need fighters available on the ship, and it has yet to have any stats.

The point is this; does anyone know of an imperial ship that has a small wing of TIE fighters that doesn't have a huge crew complement? 100 crew would be the absolute maxim I would be really comfortable with.

There's a version of the Marauder that, in theory, carries 12 starfighters and runs only ~150 total crew (52 skeleton). That's the best I can come up with off the top of my head, that I know stats at least somewhat exist for (EotE CRB) Otherwise you're really looking at finding slightly larger transport and getting a fully upgraded hangar bay in it, a CR90 perhaps, or a Consular with a hanger bay pod. Or, you know, the super-wacky FarStar. The problem once you get that small, the great majority of Imperial craft don't carry fighters.

Quick is right. With the Empire once you get below a certain point they just stop carrying fighters.

For what it's worth the Assassin corvette was often shown as carrying a few fighters in the old TIE Fighter game...

A GR-75 Gallofree Medium Transport might work, if they don't mind the ship itself being unarmed and sluggish. It only takes a handful of crew and has plenty of cargo space that could be converted to hangar space as necessary. Or the slightly larger Hardcell-class Transport that the CIS used, which is a little tougher and at least comes armed. Beware though, the Hardcell's cargo capacity is grossly overstated, there's no way that thing fits 650 Hailfires!

Edit: Oh, if they're Imperial military that's a little different. Unless they're running a covert operation or are meant to be a Q-ship, neither of those are very "official" Imperial vessels. Hmm...

The Guardian-class Light Cruiser carries TIEs externally and is pretty self-sufficient, but would still be pretty cramped if you want ground troops.

The Vigil-class Corvette has a somewhat larger crew and can carry ground troops, but again you'd have to mount the TIEs externally or do extensive modification.

There really isn't a lot in that range, crew requirements build up pretty fast, especially since anything with a full hangar will have flight mechanics eating into your crew cap, and anything military carries multiple shifts for endurance and redundancy. Internal hangars, troop capacity, weapons, small crew; pick 2 of the 4.

If you're willing to go up to 1000 crew or so, the Nebulon-B fits your description pretty much perfectly.

Or, if you like the GR-75 but need even more space, try the Gallofree Empress! The largest, least maneuverable of the enture line.

I was not looking for anything with a full squad of fighters, a wing (4) or two at most. I used the gozanti as it has stormtroopers and fighters, serving as as a sort of police vessel.

The overall campaign is snout life on an imperial vessel with a tight knit crew that, while performing missions for the empire, may or may not become disenchanted and mutiny. Hence why I don't want too large a crew.

The nebulous B could work, but 1000 crew is tough. I've detaild every member of the gozanti crew ( if I use that ship) and I want the player to know the names of the people they possibly have to fight should they rebel. While I could have countless mooks, it doesn't fit the bill.

I may have to consider a smaller "picket fleet" kind of deal. A couple of gozanti and a larger ship like the vigil - do we have stats for that even, by the way?

The fleet idea could add a dimension of trying to get all their allies transferred to one ship to get away.

The ADZ-class Destroyer from F&D beta seems about perfect. Silhouette 5 with 30 officers, pilots, and crew; it carries 6 fighters, 8 troops, and is designed for solo long-range patrol duty.

There's the Minstrel-class yacht from Lords of Nal Hutta. It's a lightly-armed but heavily armored Sil 5 with six fighters and two shuttles. It takes a crew of 37 and can hold 75 passengers. It's not an Imperial ship, but there's no reason Imperial Intelligence or the ISB couldn't make use of such a ship for covert missions.

I was just going to suggest the Gonzati. Small crew, only 4 fighters, decent size. Great ship and I love the look of it!

Even better if you go Wookiepedia, says she's mostly automated and can run a crew as few as 12.

Though, I personally think it looks like a Star Wars version of 'Mater from Cars or something out of "The Dukes of the Haard Sector' piloted by Captain Cooter. :-P

Could just be me though...LOL

Yeah.. Re ADZ would be perfect... If it didn't look The way it does.

The only issue for the gozanti is that it is very small, and while they work as a freighter, I'm not sure how well it would do as a roaming "police ship" by itself. Expanding to include more ships perhaps the vigil as a command/firepower and two gozanti freighters as a police force would work. Also, should a character die, while not likely, I wouldn't mind having a few junior officers/pilots/Troopers to draw from, while maintaining most of the crew as detailed.

The campaign I'm runnin is not from the view of a covert op, but more how the empire maintains a token peacekeeping effort as the reigning galactic power. The crew shows up to fix the problems then goes on to the next.

I seriously wish the raider carried a small wing of tie Fighters as that would be perfect, since I am buying the miniature for x-wing. I do hope we get RPG stats for it soon. Official ones that is.

Thanks for the help everyone, but if anyone else thinks of another imperial ship, I would love to know.

I was gonna photoshop something up for you, but those wacky guys over in the x-wing forums already did it.

Wookieepedia has two lengths. The "Legends" one it defaults to is noticeably shorter then the Canon listing. Gozanti's are actually almost 64m long, quite bigger then the 40 something legends lists...

Well since the Raider didn't exist until FFG created her, according to her Wookie entry, she was used to help the Tie advanced, so she has to be capable of holding some.

Also, since she's the same length and supposed to serve a similar purpose as the CR90, how about just modifying her stats a bit. The Raiders' entry says she's built to be tough, so how do these look (untill, as you said, something official comes out)?

It's not just you. That thing is hideous, like Dork-fish level stupid looking. I hope FFG gets somebody to make a better image for it. Like maybe my 2 year old. Wow.
