Fellow Brobots, what's beating you?

By PlayerNine, in X-Wing

Dash is a really rough or fairly manageable matchup depending on one factor: do the Aggressors have VI?

If yes, getting into Range 1 (or just Dash into arc) is fairly trivial.

If not, prepare to get really good at guessing and covering your flanks.

Problem is that with VI, you lack the defensive actions to survive Corran pumping hits into you twice in one turn.

Problem is that without VI, you will struggle to pin down Dash.

Thanks a lot! :)

As mentioned above, how would you rate a game against Dash not running PTL but VI? Chances are that he'll get into range and out of arcs more easily, however since he lacks PTL / Keyan then, he'll probably won't have as much punch as normaly.

Well, I run my Aggressors with Push the Limit. So ironically a Dash with VI makes things easier because he lacks a good action economy. My advice against Dash, if he outranks you in PS, is to play defensively and take your time. Engage on your terms, not his. Try and bully him into a corner or against the board edge if you can.

Half the match is the 3 asteroids placement of the brobot player and the other half if the 3 asteroid placement of the brobot player.

Corran has the same limitation for asteroids as the brobots and brobots need space to maneuver.

Invest in forcing Corran to chose going through a dense asteroid field to get to the brobots or having to face them head on.

That's interesting - so just to get it right, you advice to put up a dense field of obstacles against them? Actually sounds pretty counter-intuitive ... sure, Corran has to navigate through it too, but Dash doesn't really care. And even if it annoys Corran, it probably annoys both Bots just as much.

What I meant is, fill half the map wit asteroids and leave the rest open for movement. If your opponent has initiative even better. Just clog the side he places his first obstacle. Then place your brobots on the side that has space to maneuver and force Corran to place facing you and joust with you or having to fly through the asteroid side if he takes the other corner.

I started running an ion cannon on B because of Corran. In Dash, Corran matchup I usually rush at Dash. But if Corran exposes himself I'll try to ion him. One ion token and he's in huge trouble.

If you're in a position to block them, they've been flown incorrectly.

They hard counter turret lists of all stripes and do well against swarms

Their only weakness are high-ps arc dodgers but even then good flying can mitigate it.

That

I just won a store tournament with 2 IG s and agree with everything you said.

If you are flying closer than range 2 you are doing it wrong, unless you are planing to use inertia dampeners. ;)

Given that Aggressors are on large bases and the opponent wants to move in close, I'm curious how on earth do you prevent fighting at R1-2? :P

Well it can be situational but I believe the key is bumping. if they have higher PS, move into the likeliest spots so they have to bump you. If they have lower PS, you have advanced sensors so let a bump happen if there's not many shots coming your way (if there is, then maybe try an unexpected hard turn or long bank to avoid getting blocked, then turn around next turn). I'm not an expert, but that seems to have worked for me in my limited experience so far (I've just started flying aggressors recently).

As have I, and I find that it is often a very fine line I have to toe, between keeping them together - for focus firing down a target; while avoiding getting penned in by swarm/mini-swarms.

And also, when to use IG-D's boost.

Edit: I usually fly B&C or C&D (I know, no "gunner".. :P).
