I just got my armada core set, and placed an order for all of first wave. While waiting, I used Fab's Fleet Generator to create a squadron based fleet.
299 Points Total
Assault Frigate Mark II B 72
- General Dodonna 20
- Adar Tallon 10
- Expanded Hangar Bay 5
- Gallant Haven 8
Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - 57
CR90a Corellian Corvette - 44
Luke Skywalker X-wing Squadron - 20
B-wing Squadron - 14
Y-wing Squadron - 10
3 X-wing Squadron - 39
Objectives:
Precision Strike
Hyperspace Assault
Superior Positions
I have not played a game yet, but I have been watching a lot of batreps, and reading how to play the game. Based on that, I would like to propose the "optimal" strategy to use this fleet. I know it is dangerous to dump upgrades on one ship, but the Assault Frigate is kinda beefy and quick, so it should be able to survive.
First off, it seems like a good idea to defer initiative. I selected the objectives so I can position my squads to either gain victory tokens, or to quickly assault enemy ships. During set up, all squadrons will be placed near the Assault Figrate, with the Nebulon close by. The CR90 is situational. I would have it farther away so it can sweep around behind enemy ships.
Once the Assault Frigate is close enough, I would rush it in close (medium range), to maximize the squad synergy. Hopefully, in 1 or 2 rounds, this combo could tear through a Victory. The Nebulon can help with fighter clean up, or to finish off a Victory.
If faced against Victory I or Gladiator's, obviously keep your distance and snipe with the Assault Frigate and Nebulon, with support from squadrons.
One more thing, I am unsure about keeping Gallant Haven. I thought about dropping it to put an Engine Tech on the CR90, so it can really sneak in and hit the rear.
Anyway, let me know what you think of this build and strategy. I will post my results of playing this, hopefully this weekend.
