What mix of A and B-wing would you use?

By BCooper85, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys,

Title says it all!

I have 4 of each to hand so can do whatever combo you guys can think of.

Could do 3 b, 2 a with auto thrusters and refit.

Maybe.

Keyan + adv s + PTL + HLC

Blue

2 X Green + refit + Adren R

100pts

A fun list to fly, the diversity in dials allows for different arc dodging moves, also by saving the adren R for( maybe ) a 5 k turn with a boost might be a life saver.

I've had some success with in fun matches, not sure if its tourney stock but, I havn't flown it enough to know. Stay on target is also fun on Keyan.

cheers mate!

I would add that this is for a tournament in 2 weeks time and that my area has no meta to speak off apart from a love of the wave 1 and 2 ships with Decimators thrown in.

jakes - title (outmanuever + ptl), refit

3 blue squadrons - fcs

oldie but a goodie :)

can swap a fcs for thrusters if needed

also, the inverse

Keyan (stay on target, sensors, b/e mod, int agent)

two blue squadron pilots with fcs

Prototype pilot (refit)

This is another version,

Keyan + PTL + adv s + HLC + eng

Jake + PTL + hull

2 x bandit

not as punchy as Fickles' above, but still fun...Jake and Keyan make a fun combo

I very much like the look of this! Should be able to give a go on Vassal tonight against my brother's Deci/Defender build.

I'd skip the B-wings and do Y-wings.

That's not surprising looking at your name and avatar!

On a different note, I used the list suggested by fickle last night and beat my brother's Deci/Def build. I completely botched the initial placement(put the B's in the corner and Jake in the middle when they should have been the other way round) and Jake got taken out relatively quick but the B's did the business, all learning points. Will definitely use it again.

For tournament, I'd definitely go with Shadowmax or Ficklegreendice versions. Otherwise, this could be fun too:

Dagger (Advanced Sensors) x2

Green (Chardaan, PTL, Autothrusters) x2

98 points

I got torn apart last night by my girlfriend's Wedge/Garven/Biggs build, grrrr.

I put the B's fairly central and slow rolled them up with barrel rolls, Jake started on the far left so I could get behind the X's. Was that the right course of action?

My girlfriend is always very aggressive in her play, maybe I was a little too defensive.

I have as of late fallen in love with gemmer and his fantastic ability.

Proto pilot, CR; Gemmer, CR, Test pilot, Outmaneuver, Shield Upgrade; 2x Blue Squadron pilot w/ Enhanced Scopes, Bandit Squadron pilot.

Perhaps you don't have Zs, if not, then there is still room for one more proto pilot + CR, but would leave no room for Outmaneuver. 5 ships is a serious contender, but the 2/3 A's free up a lot of flexibility issues inherent in 5+ ship lists. You'd only be able to run EPTs on gemmer with a cost of 2 or lower. That's entirely up to you. As far as EPTs go, in my opinion anyways the only one really worth anything thats less than 3 points is Veteran Instincts.

Either way, gemmer wants to get up close, and, assuming he has outmaneuver, get behind them, preferably at range 1, so as to bring their agility down 1 but also bring your attack up 1 as well, while also assuring that any enemy attacks will have to bust through 4 defense dice.

The last few games haven't filled me with much confidence in my A and B flying skills, especially A's.

Any tips on how to stay behind targets once I get there?

The call of just reverting back to using Corran and Dash is starting to sound.....

predator gemmer is a legit anti-swarm ship :)

Hey, that's alright man.

To tell you the truth, the only way to STAY behind someone is to perfectly anticipate their movements and follow them. A K-turn will screw you, no doubt, but a lot of the time the enemy has to decide which ships are decimating them more, the ones in front, or the ones behind.

To be honest, im not sure if all As and Bs is that good of an idea. I like As because they're cheap and durable, and i like Bs because they're tanks, but in this instance you're just using As as meat to fill the grinder, a task much better suited to Z-95s.

I have had tournament success with 3-A-Wings but tried replacing Gemmer with Keyen and didn't have much success. I think it can be done but need to know how to engage and who is accomplishing which role. It is like having two different squads out there. Keyen became popular to take down so keep that in mind. Jake is the best with that barrel role IMHO. I also use Prockets. The two games I lost I did not get them off at all or poor target selection.

I would probably go Blues or Dagger with one PTL named A with a PRocket to support and harass.

Good luck.
