Hey all,
I feel like I don't get objectives.
Both players take three, and then one player chooses one of the opponents objectives as the game objective? So five cards are discarded, including all three from one player? Do I have that right?
Thanks!

Correct.
That is indeed correct. Objectives are an important part of your fleet build strategy - you build your fleet to work with your objectives, but remember you need to NOT spend all your points if you want to win the initiative bid and choose to be the second player (I usually end up with my fleets costing 292-294 points).
Alternatively, you can max out your fleet points and try a more 'balanced' build that can cope with most objectives. There is a thread floating about about how you only actually need to build for 6 of the 12 objectives.
Remember that objectives favour the second player, which helps balance out the first player advantage (activating first is nearly always a huge advantage).

Ive always seen objectives as a way of punishing my opponent for taking the initiative ![]()
