Warlords between cycles...

By AvantGarve, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked / covered elsewhere (had no luck finding anything that definitely answered this):

With the eventual release of the Planetfall cycle, what does this mean for the Warlords and their signature cards from the first cycle? Will they be useable in the new cycle - or will doing so be more of a 'format' issue? (For example: Warlord cycle only; Planetfall cycle only; Open/All cycles allowed format)

Thanks,

Mike

Do you mean on an official tournament level or just generally?

AFAIK, on a general level... I mean you can pretty much do whatever your local group lets you get away with, right? I don't think there will be any format changes, but a lot of the Planetfall cycle cards will build upon a specific theme, and if you're not making best use of that it might hinder your deck, I guess.

No idea about tournaments, but I doubt they will limit it by Cycle - that's what Rotation is for, and that only happens every four years.

If a warlord is part of a cycle that is legal (i.e., has not been rotated), it is fair game.

It's not like the introduction of new warlords in the Planetfall cycle will make it illegal to play warlords from the Warlords cycle any more than the introduction of warlords from the Warlord cycle made it illegal to play warlords from the Core.

Warlords rotate out with their cycles and not before. See here for details of rotation.

Yeah, that's a long way off from now. Thankfully.
