What is Enhanced Scopes actually useful on?

By ParaGoomba Slayer, in X-Wing

Most people I've seen try this decide that Dauntless isn't worth it and just go with an EPT like predator. Reason being, Dauntless generates stress, and because of the order of the rules, it can prevent actions anyway. IE you bump and get a stress. Then you go a green, bump again. You cannot range your free action because it takes place before the"check pilot stress" step. Same rule as Night Beast.

It can certainly help you out, but it's utility is limited as it can only generate a free action every other turn at best on Oicunn.

1. Perform green manuever.

2. Bump to trigger Dauntless

3. Take the free action granted by Dauntless

4. Recieve Stress for Dauntless

5. Remove stress in Check for Stress step.

Any shenanigans with EI or PTL take place between 3 and 4.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. If you perform nothing but green maneuvers, you can take an action with Dauntless every round and still be able to activate Ysane Isard at the start of the Combat Phase.

Because of the timing rules, if you have a stress BEFORE you execute your green maneuver, Dauntless cannot activate. Also, if you were to add Push or EI into your order, it works, but the next time you only clear one stress, so it doesn't work exactly that way if you Push. After the free Dauntless action, you can Push or EI, but then you gain two stress. Only one of the two is cleared by the immediately following check pilot stress step. Then, the next turn, you complete your green maneuver, but you are already stressed when the Dauntless action triggers, because it occurs before the check pilot stress step. The order you listed is perfect, but in the situation of Push the Limit or Experimental Interface, you add another stress and cannot trigger the free action the next green maneuver.
