Yay! Now I just have to learn to play...

Me too, back to trigonometric integration.

Incredibly selfish request, but would anyone mind posting the list of changes on here? Work blocks team covenant's website unfortunately.

What do they have, an ugly-website filter?

What do they have, an ugly-website filter?

The ugliest of the ugly.

Ask and ye shall receive. I start off with a slew of the images contained in the 2 Team Covenant previews, linked in blog post, which links back to them. To understand what they mean, you have to go visit the link.

Changes from v5.2.3 to v.5.3.0 –

What happens if you update to 5.3.0 but don’t change your squads?

Everything will work as it did in 5.2.3. You just won’t have ANY of the new automated token placement perks. No auto collision aide placement. No bomb spawner placement. No midway barrel roll placement. No midway decloak placement. No fun. No hope. People will complain about you being slow during your bumper car fest of 8 Acads vs 8 Acads.

Ok, ok! What must I change to profit from 5.3.0 with minimal effort?

  • Small and large ship tokens (the square thingies that represent the ships in the game) (Huge are unaffected)
  • Delete bombs+charges tokens that were saved in your squad, they’re no longer needed. The new, simplified tokens are dropped via the automatically created bomb spawner (no need to include a bomb spawner in your squad at all! The ship spawns the bomb spawner during play, then the bomb is created via….the spawner!)

Complete list of changes:

@Mu0n:

Additions

  • Cards
  • Slam Reference card (in X-Wing Reference Cards)
  • Extra Munitions (torpedoes)
  • Raider class Corvette fore and aft pilot cards
  • Juno Eclipse (TIE Advanced pilot)
  • Zertik Strom (TIE Advanced pilot)
  • Lieutenant Colzet (TIE Advanced pilot)
  • Hound’s Tooth special auxiliary arc (180 degrees), toggled with CTRL-N

  • Added Mission 10 Cache Token: intact and raided. (mission 11 has no token other than the debris from wave 5)

  • Added Mission 12 order tokens, 1 per faction, which act as dials: can be masked and can switch orders using period ‘.’ and comma ‘,’. They also report an illegal order change when they are on the table. Super sized relative to real counterpart for added visibility. The ‘12’ order token can be used during regular play for Roark’s ability; the +1 AGI can also be used for R2-F2 usage or similar abilities.
  • Added a U-Turn shortcut for small and large ships (CTRL-U) to pivot a ship in place (useful after an overlap following an uncompleted k-turn).

New automated features

  • New hotkey used for collision management – press ‘C’ to spawn a collision aide behind your ship. Works for small and large ships (huge ships not supported – very complicated bug, I abandoned them) for the following moves: all forwards spawn a 5-fwd behind, all k-turns spawn a 5 fwd in front, banks and turns spawn their respective aides behind, segnor’s loops spawn their respective aides in front.
  • Available for the ships that support them, do CTRL-B to drop a bomb spawner, automatically placed behind the ship
  • Once the maneuver is right, spawn your bomb by hitting
    • CTRL-M for prox mine
    • CTRL-S for seismic
    • CTRL-P for proton
    • CTRL-L for cluster mines (not included now)
    • CTRL-I for ion charge(?) (not included now)
    • CTRL-N for Connor net (?) (not included now)
  • Barrel roll – midway template placement (for custom, non-extreme rolls): CTRL-R for left, ALT-R for right
  • Decloak (standard) – midway template placement (for custom, non-extreme decloaks): J for left, K for right
  • Decloak (echo style) -midway tempalte placement (for custom, non-extreme decloaks): CTRL-K for left towards front, CTRL-SHIFT-K for left towards back, ALT-K for right towards front, ALT-SHIFT-K for right towards back
  • Once the bomb spawner is in place, select your specially marked orange template with the regular maneuver shortcuts (shift-1-2-3, ctrl-shift-3, alt-shift-3), includes straight 2 as a working choice thanks to wave 7 Bombardier crew’s ability (upgrade card upcoming, not included)

Cosmetic changes

  • Changed the hue of the back of the S&V dials to reflect their tabletop counterpart color (green)
  • Changed the Pieces/Missions/Full dial colors to remove ambiguity to S&V dials
  • Scanned and replaced the front part of the S&V dial (had a grainy, low res quick version before)

Miscellaneous:

  • Added Segnor’s Loop moves to Pieces/Missions/Full dial

Bug Fixes:

  • size of the proximity mine has been enlarged to reflect its real size.
  • size of the seismic and proton bombs have been enlarged to reflect its real size
  • K-Turn moves will no longer be broadcast both as a forward, then koiogran move. The chatlog will only show a K-Turn alert.

So what's up with this program? Do you need to have friends lined up to play or does this program matchmake or?

There's no matchmaking, but since last year, it became the most popular and most used (in terms of users logged, at least) vassal module - meaning you usually don't have much trouble finding an opponent. Just click on the [!] button to indicate you're ready to play and private message like-minded people.
