I understand where the confusion could come from. There is nothing on the card to indicate its effect is temporary, and its an effect which is found in other games where an upgrade would give a continuing improvement, it is only after cross referencing different parts of the rules its effect is deduced. I was fully believing that it was right for it to go away after the appropriate rules were pointed out, it just not explicitly stated.
Motti dying by RAW is extremely counter intuitive...
Upgrades being inactive when not in play wasn't enough?
There is nothing on the card to indicate its effect is temporary
In X-Wing, which while different does share some core rules with Armada, all upgrades are temporary, and only apply for as long as that upgrade is active.
The same concept is spelled out in the Armada rules.
Destroyed ships and squadrons are no longer in play. All ship and upgrade cards belonging to destroyed ships are inactive.
So you really don't need a lot of cross reference here, those two sentences cover it pretty well.
Yes, a mostly unknown fact: Biggs crash into the Death Star had it already wrecked, safe for Motti. Lukes Torpedo was aimed at him and as Motti died, so did the Death Star.He was the one who was so arrogant about the Death Star's invincibility in front of Vader in A New Hope, and in at least one book he was the one who convinced Tarkin not to evacuate. So his crews fight to the last when others would abandon ship, but once he goes down the aura of invincibility is gone and everyone else panics.
The torpedo was exactly aimed at Motti's huge ego. Had nothing to do with the Force really!
As a TO I would rule that Motti has an instant and persistent effect even after his ship is destroyed.
Based on what rules would you make such an interpretation?
Agreed ... then I want to make sure that when Mon Motha dies my evade tokens are still the boss.
