Rebel Stress Eaters

By Wretch, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have been toying with a casual build that revolves around ships that mitigate, ignore or gain advantages from stress. I have two builds and I wanted to get the communities feedback on how effective they will be and which is better and why.

Build 1:

Keyan Farlander (29)
Stay On Target (2)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Intelligence Agent (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Ibtisam (28)
Stay On Target (2)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Jek Porkins (26)
Expert Handling (2)
R5-D8 (3)
Total: 100
Build 2:

Keyan Farlander (29)
Stay On Target (2)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Intelligence Agent (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Ibtisam (28)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Nien Nunb (1)
B-Wing/E2 (1)
Tycho Celchu (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Determination (1)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Total: 100
My thought is that the Porkin's build adds more offense but less versatility/manueverability and Ibtisam will have a hard time getting rid of his stress without Nien. I am concerned Tycho doesn't offer enough attack dice, but he will be so mobile that he will be hard to counter. I am leaning towards using Build 2 in my gaming group (competitive casual).
I have thought about SoT for Ibtisam also to gain another point, and get more points by dropping the title and crew for the third ship. I would have Ibtisam fly with Keyan to leverage Intel agent. With the points and Tycho I would add upgrade Determination to Lone Wolf and auto thrusters to fly him as a flanker.

I like the second concept much more than the first. I worry the list is pretty susceptible to fat turrets though, with all that stress on your b wings you wont be able to move them fast enough to keep up and theres not enough red dice to punch through the damage mitigation. Tycho over porkins helps a little there, and he also really helps against ion turrets, I love that loadout for Tycho though. He's super hard to kill. In a tournament you'd be able to pretty much be guaranteed to get his mov back.

I had such a type of squadron. Keyan, PTL, autoblaster, advanced sensors; Tycho, PTL, ion pulse, failsafe, Blue Sqd, FCS, B-wing/E2, Jan Ors

A lot is sacrificable, especially the ordinance(which knowing now i would replace with things like engine/shield/hull upgrades or system upgrades, but this build is uniquely immune to stress almost completely.

Ibtisam may have an ability that only works when she's stressed BUT I consider that a consolation for the stress instead of something you should actually work on. Because it only works when she has stress Advanced Sensors may not do you much good and she'll need to dump the stress to get any action. If you use her without planning on always being stressed she works as a B-Wing with an EPT.

With Ibby built like this, you can take a red move then stick to whites. Adrenaline lets you throw in another red when it's least expected. Second build is probably better, though.
