Flattop and escorts - 300 point Rebel Fleet

By Kahadras, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Having just recieved my wave 1 Rebels I decided to throw togther a 300 point list that I could include my new Assault Frigate in. Looking though the cards that I had I thought it might be cool to turn the frigate into an aircraft carrier that could support plenty of Rebel squadrons. Having come up with a basic concept of a single big squadron support ship and a couple of escorts I came up with the following...

Admiral - General Dodonna

Assault Frigate MkII B

+ Adar Tallon

+ Flight Controllers

+ Expanded Hanger Bay

CR90 Corvette A

CR90 Corvette A

Dutch Vander

3 Y-wing squadrons

4 X-wing squadrons

The Assault Frigate with it's expanded hanger bays can control 4 squadrons when given a squadron command. The combination of Adar and a crew of Flight Controllers means that I should be able to deal with any TIE fighters that get too close.

Next time you publish your list, please add a total point value (so we can see your initiative bid) and the chosen objectives. It's easier to give good advice when we know these.

I love 8 starfighter builds. Too bad you can ativate only half of your wing to move and attack at the same turn. To be honest I don't have experience with lists that don't have sufficient number of carriers so I can't tell if it's a major weakness or not.

List total is 299 and I've not decided on objectives yet.

I'm going to do some playtesting over the next few weeks to find out how well stuff works. I like the idea of Dutch with Adar if I can get the drop on some TIE fighters using squadron command. The original plan was for the Y-wing and Dutch to work with the Assault Frigate. Although the Y-wings only have 2 blue anti squadon dice this would go up to 3 with the Flight Controllers. In addition Dutch should be able to take out one TIE squadron from the fight with his ability.

Drop 2 x-wing for luke an an iniative bid. Iniative is VERY important for fighters. Plus Luke attacking twice on big ships or dutch attacking twice disabling squadrons gives you flexibliliy!

Unless I am wrong on this.

I'm a firm believer in the power of Dutch and Wedge flying together, only thing more fun than watching Wedge throw six dice on a named squadron that already has at least one damage after Dutch has hit it, is watching th trick twice thanks to Yavaris. Real fear of God stuff there, picking up six blue dice to attack Fel or Howlrunner.

So how about dropping a couple of X-wing squadrons and replacing them with either Luke or Wedge. This would make the list...

Admiral - General Dodonna - 20

Assault Frigate Mk2 B - 72

+ Adar Tallon - 10

+ Flight Controllers - 6

+ Expanded Hanger Bay - 5

CR90 Corvette A - 44

CR90 Corvette A - 44

"Dutch" Vander - 16

x3 Y-wing squadrons - 30

Luke Sykwalker - 20

x2 X-wing squadrons - 26

Which gives a total of 293 (292 if I use Wedge instead of Luke)

I was also mulling over the possibility of going to 400 points by adding in a Nebulon B Escort Frigate along with a couple of A-Wings. This would give me a lot more in the anti squadron department. The A-wings can dash out using the Nebulon's squadron command and lock up enemy squadrons while the Nebulon can throw 2 blue dice at any enemy squadons that get too close. I've still not decided on what objectives I want to take though. I was looking at precision strike as I have a lot of bombers in the 300 point list.
