Stop Gap measure for S&V Epic ships (House rules for S&V GR-75 transport)

I have been toying with the idea of a Scum Gozanti, and just picked a second one up to start testing. I did a little modification to the docking clamps last night, and managed to dock 4x Scum Z-95 Headhunters to the Gozanti. Sadly, this is one of the few Scum ships that will fit, and they have to face alternate directions... but I think once I repaint the Gozanti, it should work.

Awesome work. I'm looking forward to seeing your repaint.

I think the painted GR75 mini in an earlier post would be my inspiration.

But if you were to manage to put big bold Black Sun icons on the wings

that would look really bold, and not necessarily the white of the Z-95s,

but if they blended into the hull because of the paint scheme it would be cool.

If you got the Z-95s to fit it can't be that far off for the M3-A Scyks facing each other.

Those yellow (scum) Mining Guild TIE fighters from Star Wars Rebels

might be something to hope for, and maybe a reason to add some yellow.

Also, the nose of the Gozanti made me think of this:

Thanks!

I must admit, I have never re-painted a miniature before, so I am not sure how that part will work out... but the idea I was working with was rusting it out. Just weathering, browning it all over, to give it a derelict kind of look, then add a faction symbol... Look at Aweber's post with his GR-75. I like the Black Suns idea. I actually thought that a rusted look for the Gozanti, while leaving the White Z-95's would give a good contrast?

M3 Interceptors will work, and can actually all face the correct direction, but I only have 1x M3, and really have no interest in buying 3x more of them, until FFG "fixes" them.

I did some test fitting, and anything else gets really hard to fit in there for Scum. I wanted to mount a pair of Y-Wings, but they are so big, there is very little room for anything in front or behind them. I think Y-Wing in front and a M3 behind might fit, but that is tight. Khiraz has a similar problem, with 2x fitting, but anyhting ahead/behind having space issues. If the Gozanti's docking clamps were about 1/2" further apart, you could have all kinds of new fitting options.

One other note, if anyone is considering this. Modifying the docking clamps does have some dangers. I messed one of them up, and ended up cutting it all the way flat across, losing the "clamp" part near the front of the Z-95. Also, the "clamp" portion that holds around the ship does add structural support, so that turning the clamp doesn't put all the pressure on the clear plastic mount. I broke one of my Y-Wings, by putting it in the clamp, then trying to turn the clamp back onto the Gozanti... snapped the peg base in half. So if you try this, try to keep as much of the plastic as you can to "hug" the ship (like the Z-95 pic above), as it helps keep you from breaking your peg bases.

Probably already mentioned, but doing a quick compare of the base card for the Scum version and Rebel version of the GR-75, since the Scum version has one additional upgrade slot by default, wouldn't it make sense to add maybe 2-3 points to the base cost? Or another possible idea, give it the 'ability' to trade cargo slots for illegal mod slots instead. A minor nitpick, but just seems a bit odd to give an improvement without a cost, even if it's just an upgrade slot.

True but when you take a look at all the Scum Only Crew options (not including the two in the kit) none of those upgrades work well with the GR-75 as it is an unarmed ship. Plus I don't really see giving an upgrade slot a point value as you end up spending more points with the exception of the EPT slot as there is now a 0 point upgrade for that slot. Since Huge ships don't have EPTs I don't consider the illicit slot to be of that much value.

Now to get two more illicit slots yes that has a point cost attached to it. Mostly for the energy gain but extra illicit slots I can see as worth points since most illicit upgrades are single use only.

As near as we (ok, the math wizards here) have been able to determine, the formula for computing point values in the first couple of waves DID add a point or two for extra upgrade slots. The result was that the academy tie was the most efficient and powerful ship in the game for a while and mist of the named pilots weren't worth taking because they were too expensive with an empty EPT slot.

Basically, charging points to give someone the option to spend more points doesn't generally make for cost effective options. (There are exceptions, of course).

I suppose that makes sense; I do tend to already run my GR-75 as a sort of fire ship, after it's first outing at the FLGS got it the nickname of the "USS Prophylactic" and becoming the most hated thing on the table. I'm thinking, with the extra two illicit upgrades, a set of three dead-man's switches on top of three cluster bombs for smash-n-blast driving.

This is brilliant. A Q ship for sure!

Well if the picture below is to be true then we might know the expiration date of this kit.

I can only guess, but my guess is someone's taken some time to do a believable photoshop,

just not good enough to fool me. I see plenty of flaws. On top of the list of flaws I could post

there's the fact that the viper miniature has practically the same paint job, and how likely is that?

On the flip side the pairing is right since they are both Mandalorian starship classes.

Apparently, as the image falls under more and more scrutiny the more it looks like a hoax.

Well it was a good time to review the retirement plan, which is to keep the kit going until a S&V huge ship is released. Then I'll simply stop re-uploading the PDF file to file dropper and when it is no longer available I'll delete the link.

However even if it was announced today it will still take some time, so the kit will remain up for a while. Besides I had to re-upload the file for the link so if anyone couldn't get to it try it again. If not let me know.

So this "leaked" image of what looks like an Italian order schedule was posted and I did a quick translation using Google translate. I still believe it's a hoax, as I've said they misspelled "Coming Soon" and "Fantasma" is the Italian word for Ghost.

And how likely is an XG-1 Assault Gunboat anyway right? - There's the bigger give away that it's a hoax, lol.

Why are the Italians trolling us? :(

Does anyone know of a conversion kit like this for the gozanti or anyone working on it?

I don't want to speak for the other poster, but I'd be interested in crew cards, upgrade cards, and titles. Just like with the scum gr-75. I don't mind researching and making my own, but haven't had a lot of time and would love examples of what others have done if they're out there.

I wouldn't mind having something that followed the format of the Imperial Gozanti Expansion:

A few ideas. I would also work on some new illicit upgrades.

I like Integral Retrofit. You can put Guidance Chips, Long Range Scanner and Munition Failsafe in a K-Wing ;)

Maybe a bit op

That's exactly why I made it, I hated having to choose between Munition Failsafe and Guidance Chips.

Your combo is only 1 point though, you have room to add Vectored Thrusters ;)

Hunter Killer Missile is so much better than Homing Missiles in every way it's not even funny. It's a homing missile that only needs a focus instead of a target lock and adds a crit to boot.

Yeah I find that FFG does limit their upgrades compared to what is currently in play most of the time. I mean the restraint of keeping all turret slot weapons under blaster turret firepower has done a lot to contain the power creep.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic there for a second.

I don't think that's a fair statement as comparisons go considering

Advanced Proton Torpedoes - 4

Heavy Laser Cannons - 4

Concussion Missiles - 4

Ion Cannon Battery - 4

Single Turbolasers - 4

Plasma Torpedoes - 4

I didn't fix the cost on purpose as I was curious what reaction it would get,

but if you had to go by this article what would you cost it at?
