Stop Gap measure for S&V Epic ships (House rules for S&V GR-75 transport)

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So every couple of months I have to re-upload the file so if you get the filedropper home page please let me know and I'll fix it.

But furthermore the Gozanti Cruiser spoilers? Can you think of some fun upgrade combos on Black Sun Escort Q-ships? Good thing we got Bosk <crew>.

Really cool idea, also nicely done.
I have a Rebel Transport, maybe I have to get another just to repaint it in S&V colors ;)

Also, while I haven't read through everything, I believe there are some Tantive IV sized ships that are used by the criminnals in the Legends Cannon

We know Scum will get epic ships in the future, the question is when. So this is to fill the gap between now and then. Enjoy.

Love these ideas and cards. If I could only paint.....

MS Paint is pretty easy to use. ;)

One of these days I'm going to learn a competent photo/imaging editing program like Photoshop or something.

Hi

I would like to permit the use of your Scum GR75 during a Thematic Tournament.

Your PDF is no longer available.

Can you fix it ?

Thanks :)

I cannot get the PDF. Can you reload it again?

I just checked it and was able to download a copy. Did it take you to the homepage or just didn't work when you hit the download file button?

That being said filedropper.com tends to be a little bit temperamental. If you know of another PDF sharing site that doesn't ask for an account or subscription let me know.

ok I got it. My stupid work computer blocked me. It worked fine on my home computer.

I really like this, I've just bought a Rebel Transport and am having a Rebel epic game next week. I will print this off and play test it next month. I hope it all prints to scale OK.

I have a few questions though that have come up reading the thread:

  • In the original post it says "You may use any <illicit> upgrade card once per turn even if you have already used a copy of the same upgrade on the same turn." However, it doesn't say it on the black market transport upgrade card. Does this ruling still apply? I can't see it breaking existing X-Wing rules tbh. You can fire multiple hardpoints per turn anyway.
  • How do the illicit 'attacks' work (e.g: feedback array and hotshot blaster)? Presumably they all trigger when the ship attacks, much like the CR-90 can attack with it's primary weapon and all equipped secondary weapons
  • For the sake of targeting, which section of the ship are attacks from illicit weapons measured (e.g: hotshot blaster) made from? Front or both? I'm guessing hotshot blaster can't go through the central blue line. What about feedback array?
  • Not a question but a comment- cloaking device needs to be banned from being equipped! 2 green dice on a huge ship is broken. You can still perform actions whilst cloaked, so it's still really useful if it can't attack, and if you're really jammy with your dice rolling the cloaking device could be around for a while. Ships with 2 attack dice are going to struggle against a cloaked GR-75, especailly at range 3 and beyond.

This is very cool

Having thought about it, feedback array isn't technically an attack, so could go through the blue centre line?

Presumably Arms Grimrakers ability can only be used by the fore section? That's where the firing arc is, I can just see some smart ass trying to convince me they can use either section because there's only one ship card.

We didn't not agree on arcs for this package of cards. I preferred to split the weapons, one in the front section and one in the rear section. If you go with all weapons in front, then yes the blue line would block a turret from having a 360 shot. Use the CR90 primary turret for your rules lawyering, and there shouldn't be any argument about it.

If you chose to go with a weapon on each section, I recommend you use a mirror arc in the rear, or one of the other arc bases that I designed, like the double broadside arcs, which are basically the CR90 arcs fitted to the GR75 length.

• Hot Shot Blaster

"'Hot Shot' Blaster is a secondary weapon. (X-Wing FAQ, Version 3.1.1, Updated 07/24/2015)"

This suggests to me that if you don't have a card that lets you attack again, like gunner, then there is no point in having more than one of these cards on your ship.

• Feedback Arrays

"During the Combat phase, instead of performing any attacks..." plural. I believe since a ship can attack more than once, multiple Feedback Arrays should be acceptable, but I didn't design the original card and I would have made a "three different cards" restriction.

• Cloaking Device

Cloaking Device is a "SMALL SHIP ONLY" card.

Aren't hardpoints on the CR-90 technically secondary weapons?

You can attack with all of these on a CR-90 in one round, even if they are the same so I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed with hot shot blaster

I don't know why I was thinking Huge ship for arcs and non-huge ship for weapons.

3.5 hours sleep maybe. You're right it doesn't matter if you use more than one.

Some people though, will argue that normal huge ship weapons spend energy,

but then there's the ordnance modification. Not to mention other game changers.

Or just use as is, since docking clamps is a zero point upgrade.

True, you don't have to spend energy, but both illict attacks have a disadvantage (single use or suffer a damage), so I think this balances out.

Since neither illicts use a firing arc, I think restricting them to one section evens it out, as all huge ships are currently restricted to firing their secondary weapons out of a firing arc, so to give feedback array or hot shot 360 from the whole ship seems a bit overpowered. The fore damage deck on the GR-75 is the only one that mentions discarding upgrades, so to me it makes more sense to equip them to the fore.

Good spot on the cloaking device!

Main problem with ordnance tube on an armed GR-75 is the GR-75 has no target locks. You will have to use a trick with Bossk and have another hardpoint so when the miss hits bosk can activate and you can use the ordnance tube.

As far as illicits go most are either discard with the exception of feedback array which damages the ship and gives it 1 ion token that will take away energy on the next turn. Since the GR-75 only has one ship card any upgrade can be discarded by the fore section critical hit card.

and of course we are not getting any hunt for the Brown October scenario with the cloaking devices. Sorry to say that. ;)

  • I would say yes if you have 3 feedback arrays or 3 hotshot blasters you can fire them off in the same turn.
  • I would say they work like any other attack although the feedback array states in place of an attack. For simplicity sake I would say treat it as a secondary weapon.
  • Illicit don't have a specified section as there is only 1 ship card so I would suggest it could be measured from either section of the base. The firing arc is only used if the Q-ship or Death Merchant title is used for the hardpoints. As for Arns Grimraker I would treat his ability as firing from the for section.

I agree with you on all of these apart from Arns Grimraker now I've seen how dual laser turret works on the Gozanti. I think it should be either section as that's how the dual laser works. You've payed 15 points and one energy per attack, it should be both sections!

I'm going to be playtesting the kit this Saturday, and I'm really looking forward to it.

How do you envisage Tomaas Azzameen working with frequency jammer? I don't think you can change the stress gained on the second ship as part of the jam action, as frequency jammer is trigged by it, not part of it, so the token assigned from frequency jammer couldn't be an ion token.

For simplicity sake Frequency jammer should work just like what it says on the card and Thomas Azzameen can only ionized the ship targeted by the jam action.

Speaking of which do you think you can do title cards for the black market, "the Bloody Credit" and the armed Q-ship? I tried looking for pictures of slaved wookies or twileks as art for the "bloody credit". I couldn't find any.

It may be tricky to find something worth using.

I have been toying with the idea of a Scum Gozanti, and just picked a second one up to start testing. I did a little modification to the docking clamps last night, and managed to dock 4x Scum Z-95 Headhunters to the Gozanti. Sadly, this is one of the few Scum ships that will fit, and they have to face alternate directions... but I think once I repaint the Gozanti, it should work.
