Stop Gap measure for S&V Epic ships (House rules for S&V GR-75 transport)

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

Is there any intent to make any Scum Only cargo? I think 1 or 2 could really round this whole segment out nicely. I tried to think of some but only came up with ones that I believe would be too broken. The best I have so far is:

Signal Overload: 4 points, Energy: Spend 2 energy, remove a red target lock, the ship with a blue target lock receives 1 damage.

Well since there isn't any Rebel only or Imperial only cargo there was no intent to make a Scum only cargo. The scum only would be the illicit upgrade slot (or 3 illicit upgrade slots if you take the Black Market title).

As for that any new cargo for scum I would suggest waiting on FFG to make new cargo upgrades and when they finally make their new huge ship for scum. Until then I think this will be enough to hold us over.

I like this idea, I might work on a card for it.

Reminds me that the ECM & ECCM stuff shouldn't be limited

to just the Jam action, there should also be an Anti-Jam,

or as it is known now Electronic Protective Measures (EPM).

Counter Jammer

When you perform a Jam action, instead of assigning stress tokens to a target

you may instead target a friendly ship with at least 2 stress tokens,

that is at Range 1-2, and remove 2 stress tokens from it.

Targeting Jammer

When you perform a Jam action, instead of assigning stress tokens to an enemy ship,

you may instead remove all target locks on friendly ships that are at Range 1-2 of your ship.

Targeting Slicer

Action: Choose 1 or more enemy ships at Range 1-3 that have blue target lock tokens.

For each ship chosen, you may spend 1 energy to cause that ship to suffer 1 damage.

Just note that these tend to nerf ordnance.

Which, y'know, wasn't exactly impressive to start with. :(

So, I'm guessing you're saying they shouldn't be costed as high as I thought they might then.

The Targeting Slicer maybe not the same as the Slicer Tool, which is 7, but something more like 5. ;)

And on the other hand, the new cards from the two new bombers are supposed

to help out with ordinance, so lets not assume they are completely "unimpressive"

as of the current releases. I already updated my DP20 Gunship to make use of

ordinance tokens when they were first spoiled a while back.

But because of your point, it did occur to me it might be easier to just hand out evade tokens.

It then wouldn't be so bad on Assault Missiles and/or Lt. Blount.

Personally, I don't like the idea of a regular "illicit" slot on an epic ship. I view it similar to modification that only a "Huge Only" modification should work on a huge ship. Maybe my suggestion would better suit a huge only illicit slot than a cargo slot. I think that is a better solution.

As a side note. I viewed this as an expensive upgrade to Countermeasures, where instead of increasing agility it deals back 1 damage. The whole idea being that 2 energy it would have to REALLY be worth it to burn off that target lock as that much energy is basically another attack. With ships be handed lots of free focus and ordnance being a heavy hitter on epic ships I thought the target lock removal was a nice little bump, especially for a ship like the GR-75 and not being given to ships around it.

It's actually Tomaas Azzameen, not Thomas Azzameen.

This may seem like too much but it's just Comms Booster folded into Toryn Farr.

I see Ragnar Lothbrok has made his way into the S&V ranks. Odin is most pleased.

most of the images was taken from wookiepedia with altercations. I think the Tomaas Azzameen was from the X-wing alliance instruction manual. As for Arns Grimraker the wookiepedia one was so awful I found a google image of the star wars comic book cover with a character fighting off wampas. Since Arns Grimraker's backstory has quite a bit to do with Hoth I figured I would use that picture and edit it to add the cybernetic implants instead of going with the Doc Terror clone.

Semi-topical:

It'd be nice to see Scum cards for the CR-90. The Renthal's Fist springs to mind considering we've already got Drea on the table.

Title - Renthal's Fist

"Other ships within range one of this ship must cancel critical results before hit results"

1 pt

This represents her "no unnecessary casualties" pirating philosophy.

"the Renthal's Fist was equipped with a pair of capital ship grade proton torpedo launchers."

I like the idea of removing a cargo slot or team slot in the fore section for a torpedo slot or two.

Perhaps with three ordinance tokens to start

Well when thinking of the Victory Star Destroyer it did have concussion missile launchers. I was thinking of a 0 point hardpoint card that can carry up to 3 missile secondary weapons.

How are you printing this? So far, it doesn't seem to matter what program I use or what settings I try - the image prints either way too big or too small.

I'm still just puzzled why the fire arc is so small.

I was able to print mine using windows photo viewer and turn off auto-fit scaling on the page set up. IT works for when I print only one of them however when I did try to print bothe bases at the same time I do get a different dimension.

Just in case that is still not working how I ended up making the image is by scanning the GR-75 tile and then scan a IG-88 tile. move the stats and name over to the stat bar and then move the stat bar and the firing arc over the GR-75 tile.

Hope that helps. ;)

Potentially dumb question but is there a Zip I can download with this entire kit in, ready to print?

I ask as I'm having this same issue with sizing:

I'd also love to get a hold of the entire package.

I may be a little late to the party here, but......

Why a forward firing arc on the Q ship and not broadside? Aren't the baddies going to figure out that it's not a normal GR75 the moment it turns towards them?

Hadn't thought of a Zip file but yeah that is a good idea. I am not too certain about where to post a zip file online there are so many share sites that got shut down by DMCA and other sites are just riddles with adwear that I don't want to direct people to there. However if you know of a sharing site for zip files let me know and I'll see about that.

As for the size of the base I used windows photo viewer with the re-sizing turned off. I need to get more cardstock to try and print off more bases. To see if there were any other steps needed.

Again I always imagine as guns being hidden inside the outer hull with much of the cargo pods removed. That there makes the front having the most area open for the guns to fire but yeah I know it is rather restrictive especially when compared to the firing arcs of other huge ships. It is still a transport after all. However there is also the Arns Grimraker crew to get the ship to fire out of arc. ;)

You must be using either a newer or older version of Windows Photo Viewer than mine. The one in Windows 7 doesn't have a Page Setup feature... I have to print an image as a full-page photo or as one of several pre-set photo sizes.

If you use Dropbox, you can share from within your public folder :)

The issue I'm having is party situational - I'm in corporate housing for the next year and and not having a home printer means I am doing all my printing to a FedEx via their "FedEx Office" app, so I can't do any experimenting with size and can't print from any native Windows app - so I keep printing stuff out and it is all botched and wonky.

Is it possible that you could put all the cards in a single PDF or even Word document at the right size so it's ready to print? :)

Okay, give me the weekend to try and put everything together. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything in a zipfile and at the right size. At least the base tiles at the right size. I will admit I have yet to get the cards at the right size though. Yeah I also understand institutionalized housing. Good luck out there.

Okay well I did use the word file and ruler and so fart that did get everything to size (running out of ink and cardstock to print though) :( It is all one side because I haven't figured out any fancy tricks to do 2 sided printing. That might be the next step to give all the cards their backs but as for now it is perfectly playable.

Let me know if this turns out alright so I can share the link with the Gameboardgeek and Team Covenant.

After taking a break from this and then reviewing what was said about the Vasudra,
I came to realize that the right direction to go with it in-theme was to prevent damage not repair it,

and also as a "support ship" ability, the "Draw their fire" EPT was a good example.
Draw_Their_Fire.png Determination.jpg

Vasudra
Scum only, GR-75 only
4 points +2 energy

  • When a friendly ship at range 1-2 is hit by an attack you may suffer 1 of the uncanceled <hit> or <crit> results instead of the target ship, and that ship may then discard any faceup Damage card with the Pilot trait without effect.

This is not redirecting the whole attack like Shield Projector, but merely sharing some of the damage,

and "from a certain point of view" preventing damage very similar to healing damage.

Your current Vasurdra title has nothing to do with the ship article or theme discussed in this thread.
