rexlers prockets or ion cannon

So the list is howlrunner and 3 academies

Then rexler with predator, I've got three points to pit on him do I take prockets an ion cannon or something else?

Prockets are 5 dice at R1 vs. 4 dice at R1 using Rexler's normal attack; are those points really worth the +1 attack on a single attack?

Ion is interesting although it may make it a little harder to maximize his ability when all you could do is turn one card.

I actually like the Hull Upgrade suggestion. The Defender may already be tough but with 3 agility that Hull becomes even harder and it helps provide insurance against some things.

What you forget about Ion though, is since additional hits do nothing, you might be able to get away with not using the focus to modify the attack (two natural hits against a B-Wing for example), making you more likely to use his ability.

I will not say I completely forgot about the "benefit" of not needing to spend a Focus to hit with the Ion but I'm not sure you'll get more use from his ability. If you roll enough good die results to ensure a hit that means more damage could go through allowing more cards to be turned up. If you get one hit through then the Ion Cannon is wonderful as using it doesn't 'cost' you anything except the points to equip it. You could end up giving an ion token and a face-up card but getting two face-up cards would likely have been better.

Ion Cannon or even a Flechette Cannon isn't really a bad use of points on any Defender. Even if you don't care about dealing the Stress or Ion token, it's nice to not be giving your target an additional green when shooting them from range three.
