1/7000

By Thalomen, in Star Wars: Armada

Thanks, Diablo. Your already ahead of our curve on the cards for the most part, but will you put Dreadnought and Carrack Cruisers on your "to-do" list? Utar makes them, and Im certain they're going to show up at our game.

Dreadnought was next on my list, I'll begin work on it as soon I'm satisfied with the Venator. I'll do the Carrack at some point too :)

Here is my idea for shuttles (in the generic sense including shuttles, light freighters, troop ships, etc) to work with 1/7000 fleets. These are all scaled to be about 8mm in size, That way the look somewhat realistic between 1/2256 scale fighters (around 4mm) and the smallest 1/7000 scale capital ships (around 13mm). I'll try to get some pics of the actual ships tonight...

Here is a quick shot of how the 8mm shuttles look with 1/2256 scale fighters and a 1/7000 scale rebel transport...

Good news. Ive uploaded the Acclamator, Interdictor, Venator and Vindicator in 1/7000 scale :)

Wow, this really shows how much the actual scale (and firepower !) varies from Armada to the Universe !

Good news. Ive uploaded the Acclamator, Interdictor, Venator and Vindicator in 1/7000 scale :)

Fantastic news, Mel! thank you.

Any chance Munificent can be added? Id love to get a pair of them with a Venator for a Rebel or Mercenary squadron.

Thanks Mel!

I also have the following 1/7000 scale stuff in resin:

Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser, Consular cruiser, MC30c Mon Calamari Frigate, Imperial Escort Carrier, Carrack-class Light Cruiser, Lancer-class Frigate, Tartan-class Patrol Frigate, Marauder-class Corvette, Interceptor-class Frigate, Imperial Patrol Vessel IPV-1, Corellian Corvette CR 90, Corellian Corvertte CR 70, Assassin-class Corvette, Corellian Gunship DP20a, Corellian Gunship DP20c, Republic Light Assault Cruiser, Action VI Transport, Bulk Freighter, GR-75 medium transport (Rebel Transport), Bayonet-class cruiser, Broadside-class Star Destroyer, Bulk Cruiser, Strike cruiser, Quasar Fire-class bulk cruiser, Star Galleon-class Frigate.

It almost seems to me that with this drastic reduction is size for some ships that they would only look "balanced" with 2-3 on a stand. Might be pretty darn cool looking.

I was just thinking the same thing 2 3 or 4 to a base :)

Good news. Ive uploaded the Acclamator, Interdictor, Venator and Vindicator in 1/7000 scale :)

Just ordered your Venator and Interdictor. Now, when Munificent goes to 1/7000, I can order up a pair of them.

Thanks Mel!

How can we get them (and you tiny fighters)?

How big is the ISD in 1/7000? Having seen the model now, it's clearly NOT in scale with the VSD. I'd really like to go for a constant scale like this, but that includes the large ships as well as the small.

Utar, have you done/are you doing a 1/7000 ISD and MC80 at all?

Thanks Mel!

All those in that list I have in limited numbers in resin, just shot me a pm. I will also try to get them updated on shapeways as soon as I have time.

A friend of mine is updating his 1/2256 fighters to fit onto tiny fighter trees so you can have a 9 fighter squad on an armada stand. I will post some pics when they are done. They look good with 1/7000 scale capital ships and 8mm shuttles. I need to update the shuttle file.

I am not sure the size/scale of the upcoming armada ISD (does anyone have insight into the real length of the wave 2 capital ships?). The diecast ISD model from the disney store is 9 inches almost exactly 1/7000. The FFG VSD is about 1/6400 scale so technically about 1/2 inch too long for 1/7000 but close enough for my taste for in scale gaming. You can see both in the pic below. Yes, I'll be working on a Winged MC80 model next year. Hopefully FFG will release one close to 1/7000 in the meantime :)

The long waited Munificent Frigate is up :)

I would like to replace a few ships on the current range with smaller models, including the CR-90 and Nebulon B. But I'm wary of altering any rules/base sizes, etc. since I still want to be able to play this game competitively. With the CR-90 I'm hoping to put a couple on a single small base an use the regular CR-90 rules, just pretending that they represent a small squadron of corvettes rather than one ship. That'd be a little trickier with the Nebulon perhaps.

Actually I saw someone do 3 Corvettes on a stand, and 2 Nebs. Ordered from Shapeways I believe.

It made the game seem much cooler because it adds grandness to even the smaller ships. Not just one little corvette, but a small battlegroup of them! It consequently made the Star Destroyer cooler because it added an immensity, and powerfulness to it.

The FFG ISD is just a tiny bit over 200mm, or roughly 1/8000.

At a gaming convention in Orlando a little while back, my gaming group did a Star Wars campaign that combined Armada, X-wing and an older Star Wars miniatures game in a storyline called Echoe of the Sith.

I have a link here to the Armada fight. The game used all 1/7000 minitures made by Utar and Mel. The pictures give a good idea of what a fleet size action in 1/7000 can look like.

And I'd love feed back on the scenario.

Thanks!

So.... who wants some Liberty?

Looks amazing! Really well done! That price though for FUD :( Is there no way to hollow them out or something so the larger models become somewhat more affordable?

Ask Utar by PM

Ill try to hollow it more, but all those bubbles are very hard to hollow, so all that is dense material. Thats why its so expensive in FUD.

In WSF the volume occupied is more important than the amount of material.

That settles it. I need tiny Nebulon-Bs...

Sorry the pictures are not that great. I just can't figure out how to post direct to this page. Part of it is my computer won't cooperate.
