Would you double up on anything in Armada?

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

As of now if you get one of each of the Armada products you will have for the rebels.

  • 6 X-wing squadrons
  • 2 Y-wing squadrons
  • 2 A-wing squadrons
  • 2 B-wing squadrons
  • 2 Corellian corvetts
  • 2 Nebulon B frigares
  • 1 Assault Frigate Mk2

and for the Imperials you would have

  • 8 TIE-fighter squadrons
  • 2 TIE-bomber squadrons
  • 2 TIE-Interceptor squadrons
  • 2 TIE-Advanced squadrons
  • 1 Gladiator class frigate
  • 2 Victory class Star Destroyers.

With this set it seems unlikely you would need to buy a second product of anything even the core set. So my questions is well if anything you need 2 of what expansion (or core set) would you consider buying and why? Also if there is a need to buy a 2nd expansion then what expansions say would you sacrifice (assuming you can't afford both) to get a second expansion pack and why?

The only thing I think you would need a double of is the fighter packs.

Multiple fighter packs would be of benefit for list building. Expands your options quite a bit.

The fighter packs are possible. And I may buy another gladiator at some point. But in general no.

literally everything ^_^ (Except the core set)

gotta get those spam builds going

double af mk2

double victory

double/triple gladiators

triple nebs

triple corvs+

9 A-wings!

the fun never ends

buttttttt, since everyone and their mom is running star destroyers I'm sacrificing gladiators to double up on AFs and wave 1 nebs. Not a huge fan of corvettes

I bought 2 of everything and 4 fighter packs for each side.

I have 2 core sets already. Getting two more nebs (mainly for their Intel Officer), a CR90, 2 ASF's, 2 Gladiator's, and likely 3 of each squad pack

Much like how X-Wing you need 3-4 craft to have good numbers, I think two is satisfactory for most ships in your fleet, 3 I think for the lighter elements (3 CR-90s, 3 Raiders). Of course this also includes the starter kit stuff, I can't see why you would need 3 Nebulons except to create some kind of elfin archer list.

The only thing I think you would need a double of is the fighter packs.

I do think the fighter packs would be the only thing worthwhile to double up on. That being said what about the wave 2 large starfighter packs?

I might need two ISDs at some point, possibly three depending on points and all. But that's about it for me.

I am getting most liely 4 MC30's. The Nebulon-B expansion comes with Intel Officer's and since I already have 2 Victory Star Destroyer's and getting a third from the expansion, I don't think I need a 4th.

Probably 2 Glads, 2 AF2's and 2 of each fighter pack.

I'll echo the sentiment of if you are going all in on both factions then 2 Gladiators, 2 Assault Frigates and 2 of each fighter pack.

As for what to sacrifice I guess it all depends on what you like about the game. For me I'm not sold on the Fighter mini-game at the moment so have passed on the fighter packs and chosen to run minimal Combat Air Patrols of core set ships. I've been playing core set Imp's for weeks so have learnt that I like flying big tough ships rather than the little stuff and its much easier to keep things in side arcs than front. Put those two things together and you get the Assault Frigate MKII so I've picked up 2 of them and am leaving my Wave One purchases at that for now until I've gotten through my first tournament at the end of June.

i got two gladiators so i could try a list without too many fighters. i wanna see big ships blasting stuff.

I've got 2 cores and am waiting on 1 vsd, 2 af2, 3 gsd, 1 neb, 2 cr90 and 2 of each fighter pack.

For wave 2 I think I'll be getting 2 (or more) isd, 1 home one and only 1 fighter pack. Then 3-4 of the frigates depending on how many points they are.

I think that'll do about all the lists I could really do.

Pretty much the same in x-wing. I've got generally enough of the small ships for 100pts of each (4ish) and 2 of each large ship.

Slightly regretting buying the 2nd core now as I want the cards from the neb and gunship but justified buying the 2nd core on the basis of not buying them as expansion packs. Looking on eBay to get the cards but the price they go for may as well just buy the expansions.

Anyway no big deal and I think I will eventually buy for really big games.

Two fighter packs, and considering a second Gladiator.

I bought the following to add to my Core Set:

1. 2x Fighter packs for each side.

2. 3x Gladiators

3. Victory Expansion

4. Neb Expansion

5. 3x CR-90 Expansions

6. Mark II

7. 2x Dice Packs

My future purchases are:

1. Maneuver Tool

2. CR-90 Expansion

3. Mark II Assault Frigate

4. Fighter Packs for each

This gives me the toolbox I want to run every list I have built for 300 points.

Well I want a thematic force based around using large numbers of fighters and bombers so I may get two packs, I have two nebulon b frigates to act as their base ships.

I have 4 Nebulon-Bs so far, I'll be going to 5 soon...

I have 4 Nebulon-Bs so far, I'll be going to 5 soon...

Aren't you the one building the 5 Neb fleet shoulder to shoulder?

I ordered a second set of imp fighters and a second gladiator. Depending of cost I might get two ISDs when they come out because why would I command anything else?

Everything, I would buy multiples of everything.

I doubled up on starfighters and the gladiator. Only doing Imps right now. Possibly going to add another gladiator.

I made some mistakes in X-Wing - buying too many copies early on that I somewhat regretted after -

A-Wings, B-Wings, Interceptors ... only to end up with too many duplicates once the Aces packs got released ...

(for example a newcomer today --with a budget in mind- would be better off buying two packs of Rebel Aces & Imperial Aces , and like two A-Wings, two B-Wings, and only one Tie-Interceptor expansion pack)

So moral of the story in Armada I'm holding onto 1 of each (including squadrons -- that can be proxied for now) until at least Wave 3 is announced ...
