Leia Organa and the Mark II

By Beatty, in Star Wars: Armada

Looking over my cards tonight I came across a card I have not used yet because the Core ships just don't need her, Leia Organa. But taking another look at her now with my Space Whale in hand and I realized she can make the Mark II into a Command 1 Ship.

I want to test her out to see if see is worth it but if you have her on a support ship that is in the Distance 5 zone she can turn a game around with a quick change in your command dial to change with the quick changes in the game. How many times have you selected a Squadron command only to have them engaged or out of range when that command came up and you just took a huge hit to your Hull?

Then again to do this may take more work then reasonable and turn into a situational card that's not worth the points.

So has anyone had a chance to use her yet?

I have used Leia with my Nebs. It allows my some flexibility. Now add in Jaina's Light and you should be in Range 1-5 easily

I seriously contemplated taking Leia in a game the other night for the same reasons. I planned well in that game and it turned out I wouldn't have needed her, but I think that card has definitely moved up from 'never use' to 'could easily be worth three points'.

I've honestly liked Leia since she was released. I think she works well in the situation you described but, fittingly, she's also good on the Tantive IV! You can have it either hang back or in a range that allows you to pass off tokens to ships that require support or could make better use of them. This combo does work better with Raymus Antilles, but if he's already assigned elsewhere it's nice to have her for passing them off.

I used Leia with Nebs in the before times, and she was decent for 3 points. Now, with cards like Isard on the opposite side and the Mk.2's large command stack, I think for 3 points she's a really excellent value. I haven't had a chance to test that out because my daughter decided to be born the same day the ships came in, but I feel pretty good about the Princess.

Lea could be great, but she has two pretty big limitations

1. is that most commands won't really be appropriate for the CR90. You can rely on concentrate fire and navigate, but repair is not terribly useful unless it's damaged (obv) and squadron...yeah. With command 1, the Cr90 isn't going to be making much use out of command tokens.

2. Lea's Cr90 has to activate before the AF, obv, if you need immediate returns. If you need to change your stack for the next turn, the cR90 has to activate after (and the AFmkii might have moved out of range at that point)

flexibility is always awesome and she doesn't have the cost associated to liasons, but I think she will be limited to certain builds/strats

I would just like to say congratulations. So do you have a gun/shovel collection yet, or is that the next hobby you're going to start?

As a father I am very happy for you.

Beatty.

Thanks for the kind words Beatty! Time to look into a porch, a shotgun and a rocking chair...do they still make chastity belts?

But don't worry about any of that yet, just be a happy dad for now. But the boy scaring will be a fun hobby for you when you get older.

I've liked Leia since she was released in a gold bikini.
