Solid and fun scum swarm list

By markcsoul, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm 9-2 now with a 6 ship scum swarm I've been playing off and on lately. It's the first time I've ever run 6 or more ships before, and one of the few times I've run 5 or more.

It consists of:

Palob + Autoblaster Turret + Expert Handling

Syndicate Thug + Autoblaster Turret X 2

Binyare Pirate X 3

Total: 100

I originally had blaster turret on palob for the first many games, but since palob was often the first target, it meant if I had a focus it was often burned on defense, even stolen ones. Now with auto blaster I don't need an action to use it, and the expert handling has let me barrel into range 1 a few times against generics.

Having 3 autoblasters is really nice for any high agility ships that get stuck in the tangled mess of my swarm. Most people go for my z's before the y's since they are easier kills, but that is usually a mistake I've found.

I like this list a lot. I had been contemplating a Scum swarm and this looks like a good start.

Only one suggestion:

While I understand using EH to barrel roll in for the autoblaster, would Outlaw Tech maybe be useful more often to make full use of the limited HWK dial? You could end up with 2 focus tokens as well for defense.

The hwk's red dial is even worse, just 3 bank and 4 straight. If you had the points, you could do stay on target + outlaw tech, but thats 2 more points. Well, you could still do stay on target as you're already getting stressed from EH. Still lose your action though.

It's a nice list. There's no one easy target to go after first. I'd likely pick Palob first because he debuffs. If I was using aggressors, I would try to exploit the fact that your core moves very slow. Keep you at range 2-3 then run away. Not an easy nut to crack with high agility lists.

It's a solid list, but doesn't have much attack power too it. If you want to go with a scum swarm, use the list I have been using to great effect.

Binyare Pirates + Dead mans switch x7

98 points.

While the z's don't pack much attack or defense, this list normally throws people off their game. Not only will you be able to control where the oppoinate flies to, but you makes them reconsider arc dodging and getting in close for range one. Plus if you manage to get a chain reaction going with dead mans switch, it kills most small ships instantly.

I'm currently 12-0-5 with this list. Lots of ties with this list due to the chain, but because it's 98 points, I usually win tournies because of points destroyed.

Just a thought
