What type(brand, color, etc)of model paint is the best to match to Tie Fighters in the core set? I bought some Tie Droids from Shapeways and I want them to match. Any advice or tips would be great.

I base-coated mine with Uniform Grey from Army Painter and then mixed GW colours to match that shade of grey while adding highlights and details.

It also depends on whether you are contemplating giving the original TIEs a repaint. If that's the case, choose a colour, and try not to mix anything. Then it will be uniform across the fleet, and any later additions will also be easily colour matched.

Unfortunately it's very difficult to give exact matches for the colours used for the factory paintjobs. To makes things even more complicated, two identical ships may very well have slight differences in hue, so a perfect colour mix for one ship can look wrong on another ship.
