BBBY league play

By JMichael, in X-Wing Battle Reports

6 week 100pt league. Lists cannot change, so basically a 6 round tournament.

I am normally a TIE swarm Imperial Player. But as our league is mostly Imperials, I decided to play Rebels!

Two advantages I think I have is knowing how the different TIEs move and act and also being fairly good at formations.

I was really torn between taking Fire Control Systems, Advances Sensors, or Accuracy Corrector.

AC, would have been a waste, as I have consistently rolled (and with Target Lock re-rolled) more than 2 hits every time.

Advanced Sensors is a great choice too.

But for me 2 games so far FCS is the clear winner! I don’t have to worry about the obstacles or stress as much. As long as I can shoot, I get a free Target Lock. This frees up my action for Focus, Barrel Roll, or Stress.

I think my willingness to fly into the obstacles that my opponent is so diligently trying to avoid is giving my big B-Wings a slight maneuvering advantage!

B-Wing FCS, E2, Tactician

2x B-Wing FCS

Y-Wing BTL-A4, R3-A2, Ion turret

100pts

Game 1 vs Echo, Whisper, TIE

My opponent was surprised how aggressively I used my B-Wings and that I kept them in tight formation.

One B-Wing went down fast, then I downed the lowly TIE. I was really nervous after seeing the crazy maneuvers of the Phantoms. But then Echo ended up isolated in a quarter of the table due to an asteroid collision. I seized the opportunity and all B-Wings did a 2 Koiogran turn to focus and destroy Echo.

Whisper did her dance, but against two B-Wings and a Y-Wing she was no match.

Lots of fun, the dice gods were clearly on my side!

Game 2 vs 3 named TIE Interceptors

TIE/INs are my favorite ships in the Star Wars galaxy, and I know them well.

These 3 were all tricked out with upgrades. While in the beginning I felt that my list had the advantage, my opponent’s piloting quickly upped my nerves!

B-Wing E2 was able to add a second stress to one of the TIE/IN marking him for death.

The crazy dancing around these highly skilled Royal Guard pilots were doing really kept my B-Wings on their toes. Not to mention my Y-Wing pilot needs to learn how to not constantly crash into my other ships!

Near the end he only had 1 ship left, but he pulled some fantastic moves and was in position to finish off another B-Wing who only had 1 hull left and I thought was at a safe distance!

In the end I lost 2 B-Wings and he lost 2 TIE/INs. A win for me, but not easy!

Game 3 vs Adm Chiraneau + Carnor Jax

This is a great list!

Adm Chraneau: Hull Uprade, Expose, Gunner, Merc Copilot, Ysanne Isard

Carnor Jax: Royal Guard, Hull Upgrade, Shield Upgrade, Push the Limit

I was getting lucky with the crits on the VT-49 and reduced his Pilot skill to 0. Then he hit an asteroid and ended up right in front of my entire force. Down went the VT-49! But that same round I lost the Y-Wing and a second B-Wing (first one meatshield turn before).

So then Carnor and my last Blue Sqd B-Wing danced about until time ran out.

All of my defense dice were blank! I rolled one Evade the whole game (not even any focuses).

Sadly they were exactly 12 pts apart, so a WIN for him!

Super fun match, we both played smart and careful and it was a hard earned win!

So far I think my Y-Wing would have been better off without BTL-A4. Having the turret after the initial pass I think would be a better choice.
