Scum: catch me if you can

By dotswarlock, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here is another concept that I have been experimenting with in my mind:

Palob (33 points):

Stay on target, blaster turret, Outlaw tech, Dead Man's Switch, Moldy Crow

Guri (37 points):

Virago, Autothrusters, sensor jammer

Laetin A'Shera (30 points) :

Heavy Scyk, stealth device, Heavy laser cannon

Guri and Laetin are pretty straightforward: they both profit if Palob removes a focus token from an opposing ship. In Laetin's case, he can even become harder to hit with each attack. Palob is where it gets interesting since he will most likely be the main target. But his build will allow him to:

- Bank focus tokens early on

- Get a focuse whenever he uses Stay on target through Outlaw tech.

- Use Stay on target to either arc dodge OR bump into an enemy (again without losing his focus) to get fewer attacks on him.

- The dead man's switch is there to act as a pain: how many ships will the enemy really want to use to focus fire on him at range 1?

Going to try this build during the weekend. It should be fun :)

I like the idea, but I am not too keen on Palob's upgrades. Stay on Target is better on higher PS. At 5, Palob is unlikely to get much use out of it, and even if he could, he doesn't necessarily need more focus tokens (assuming he's able to steal some and slow roll early to get a modest pile pre-engagement). I kinda like K4 droid better to increase his damage output (since if you are stressing him, you need to do the geen moves next turn anyway).

Stay on target is not too bad on Palob as it does do a nice combo for him. Since he's ps5, it won't let him chase down fel, but it will let him outmaneuver attempts to block him.

But the hawk's dial means he would mostly be doing 2-speed maneuvers regardless, which doesn't get you very far to bump or dodge.

It does seem like a fun list though, let us know how it actually performs.
