Fighter scale, please

By IG-58, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey, I realize this is of negligible importance to the average Armada-player, but this is of interest elsewhere (such as modeling forums).

Has anyone slapped an mm ruler against an X-Wing or Y-Wing and determined a ballpark scale for the things?

As a side note, for those interested, I believe it was determined the Disney star destroyer is about 1/7000 and the FFG Victory-class around 1/6400 or so (and I think mebbe the Gladiator too), so now there's actually a flurry of activity among "garage kitters" to produce 1/7000 ships! Yes, these things matter. :D

Me, I'm looking for ships for the ol' 1/2256 fleet.

I only have the core set, but a TIE/ln is ~8mm horizontally across the solar panel, fore to aft, and the X-Wing is ~14mm from the tail of the engines to the tip of the nose.

I'd be curious to know the math on this as well. I'm not a total scale purist but I'm looking into buying some smaller scale CR-90s and I already have a slew of 1/2256 fighters (not EXACTLY right, but they look a lot more at home than the ludicrously oversized fighters FFG has produced).

Someone want to do the math?

14mm? That big? Bummer - I was actually hoping for smaller.

Well, the X-Wing has a pretty canon length of 12.5 meters. That translates to 12500 mm. Divide that by the model's 14mm and you get 892.86, making it in the ballpark of 1/893 scale; WAY too big for accompanying the Venator!

The GOOD news is, though, it's close enough to have them cross-universe with the 1/1000 Star Trek model line, and a fine fellow named Nick has even executed a few Star Wars pieces in that scale: Sith Fury, Otana and Outrider. So there's hope yet!!

Might have to buy me some Armada fighters! Anyone need extra cards 'n' stuff?
