Game Setup

By Rottenreason, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If I'm playing a 300 point game can I field 1 ship only and use the rest of my points for fighter squadrons?

Granted my squadron command will only affect whatever my ships total Squadron value is.

If this is possible I would hate to play it or play against it as the game would take a long time to complete since squadron resolving is slower.

I apologize if this question has been asked and answered already.

Thanks!

Your squadrons can only make up 1/3 of your allowable fleet points.

Technically he can do exactly what he is asking. He can field 1 ship and as many squadrons as he wants to up to 1/3rd of his total fleet points. This will likely result in him being very, very far below the fleet point cap but it is tournament legal.

Or he will be fielding a really expensive ship....

Given how expensive some of the commanders are, and the likely point cost of an ISD once wave 2 comes out, it probably won't even be that hard to get a single ISD up to 200 points. Probably won't be effective, but it will probably be doable.

Could make for an interesting scenario, though. I love space battles involving one gargantuan god-ship ;)

FWIW...

The most expensive Assault Frigate I can come up with is 158 points. The most expensive VSD would be 175. So in both cases you're going to send up 25-50 points under 300 even with 100 points of fighters.
