Kath's Dirty Trick

By treybert, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I was trying to find the best way to leverage Palob. Then I got on the train of thought to see, what is the maximum number of dice scum can attack with?

So I settled on Kath. 4 when shooting backwards. 5 at range 1. 6 with opportunist. K4 to give a TL every round since she'll mostly be doing green 1's with a boost.

But obviously any list centered around a hawk, the hawk would be the first target. That's where Serissu comes in, loaded with a mangler to make her dangerous in her own right. She just has to survive... well she really doesn't. She just needs to be the first target. Mangler might be unneeded. I could drop it and strengthen Palob, but at the expense of being only a 1 trick pony.

Probably not the most competitive list, but I can't wait to fly it.

Palob Godalhi (20)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Kath Scarlet (Scum) (38)
Opportunist (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Serissu (20)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)

Total: 100

Palob without crew is going to be hard to keep alive. He will take concentrated firepower, and once your one focus is gone even Serissu's rerolls won't save you for long....

...But none of that will matter, or wipe the smile off of your face, when you do finally get to roll a six dice attack.

After that game you may choose to shelf the list.*

Yea I don't see myself playing the list more than a couple of times. Kath is pretty strong by herself, and stacking Palob and opportunist for 1 more die is a huge investment.... and like you said, its mainly for that one glorious moment 6 dice streak across the table.

I've just been so bored lately with trying to build tourney builds as they often are required to be the jack of all trades.

I've ran a similar build and a TL + Focus 6 dice attack is pretty **** awesome.

But yeah, keeping Palob alive is a huge problem.

This is my latest incarnation of the list:

Kath + Opportunist + K4

Palob + Determination + Blaster Turret + Rec Spec + Moldy Crow

Laetin A'Shera + Title + Mangler (You can also just run 2 Binarye)

This list is pretty solid unless they have any big based turreted ship with Engine. The EU would help on Kath, but you run into the problem of Kath ended up having to chase them down, which negates Kath's ability altogether. It can be frustrating.

A variation of that list that I've used to some success, replacing the Scyk with the classic Kavil+Autoblaster Turret+Unhingined Astro+EU+VI.

It is really fun, and the opponent has to make the choice between Palob (the thief), Kath, and Kavil, who is deadly at range one.

This is the most efficient build I've come up with using Kath and Palob too.

Though another choice is Ndru and Lone Wolf 19 + Inertial damps on Kath

Actually, Serissu shouldn't be doing anything useful at all. So, Ndru LW probably better fit.

wait never mind, thats 26 points. WOW. thats a lot of choice.

Another variation that I have had some fun with and success:

Kath + Predator + Gunner

Serissu + Calculation + Mangler Cannon

Palob + Moldy Crow + Blaster Turret

Kath and Serissu try to stick near each other, and Palob wanders off at Range 1 - 2 of whatever enemy is the high priority target. Stealing any focus or evade tokens so that Kath and Serissu can try to do the damage, with Palob and the blaster turrett providing some decent offense.

Played this against a guy that has won multiple store championships with Sontir + Whisper and A shuttle. Sontir hates Palob, kept taking his tokens the entire game, giving the others a chance to get through his antics.

Kath with Predator and Gunner with the rear attack is just brutal as well. Serissu buffing Kath on re-rolls gives the opponent some choices on what to target first. Do you take Kath out of Serrissu, but you can't forget about Palob stealing your tokens and limiting your options as well.
