Using E-web engineers in skirmish

By Gunnar79, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I have tried on several occasions to get some use out of these guys, but it seems they are just too hindered by move/attack restrictions to actually do anything worthwhile, even with officers backing them up. Has anyone had any luck with them?

Well the Elite version won a regional last week. You have to use it as a blocker to force the movement to one side of the map. You use regular royal guards+Elite Eweb since they have block +1 and protector now this is the start of your Elite Eweb tank. They also have good surge abilities. One of them is Recover which can be used even if you miss on your attack. They have a black dice to start. I forgot to add that they are a large 2x1 meaning they can block los really good which is why I call the Royal guard + Elite Web combo the Elite Eweb Tank.

I just talked little about moving them around but they are hard to move around this is were the officer comes into play and the high activations a lot of imperial lists have now a days.

As far as an attacker they have great range and roll three dice and have assault meaning they can attack twice in the round. Meaning they not only can be a tank that can block one side of the board now they can really do damage making them a dual threat. A lot of people avoid that side of the map but it lets you focus the rest of your build on them.

The list that won is this

Elite Eweb

Regular Royal Guard x2

Elite Probe Droid x2

Officer x3

To be honest is one of the lists I like to run since I am not a fan of the 9 act and don't have 4 core sets to run royal guard x4 and officer x4 to be honest that build seems really boring to play.

This list has a lot of attackers and activations. I have been using a version of this pretty much from day one. You could also Drop the Elite Probes and add in another officer and another Elite Eweb but that seems to be hard to move around but could be deadly.

As far the regular version they are great attackers but fall really easy.

I think the elite version is awesome, and usually include on in my imperial squad. Thee movement, one auto block, ability to heal, and ability to make fairly long ranged attacks is very powerful. When used with imperial officers, it's very easy to get them into place to attack or guard a strategic location. Worst case you can just double move them the first round (and forfeit your attack for the round) since there's usually not a lot of attacking that round anyway.

I agree that the elite E-web is worth the cost, especially with a royal guard nearby. I keep trying to put regular E-webs into lists, but they are very fragile and usually don't make it past 1 round of being shot once people start to engage them. The two extra health(7 instead of 5) and +1 defense is usually enough to allow them to get in a recover or two due to shooting. Even without the royal guard, most times people seem to shy away from engaging them unless they concentrate everything on them.

I have caught a couple people off guard with the Change of Plans command card to great affect by not using a set of troopers for a round in conjunction with an E-web.
